This open box Zephyrus G14 stands out as a thin 14 inch OLED gaming laptop with strong portability, bright and color accurate 3K 120Hz display, RTX 5060 graphics, Wi Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. The build quality and premium form factor draw praise, and the USB C DisplayPort output helps offset the lack of a full size display port. The main drawbacks are soldered 16GB RAM, which cannot be upgraded, no number pad, and open box warranty and accessory completeness concerns. Fan noise can get very loud under load, making it a compact but not quiet gaming machine.

  • buyers shopping open-box who want OLED plus a strong GPU for light gaming because commenters say the OLED is bright/color-accurate and that the RTX 5060 is sufficient for light gaming at the ~$900-$1k price range.

  • home users who don't need a dedicated number pad because commenters note you won't find a dedicated number pad on a 14-inch laptop, so the lack of one won't be a dealbreaker for that use case.

  • travelers who want a 14-inch gaming laptop because a 14 inch is described as a portability sweet spot for using and traveling more than a 16-inch model.

  • people who are specifically buying open-box and worry about tampering because one commenter says soldered RAM reduces the risk that someone stole RAM sticks before returning the unit.

  • buyers who need Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 in a thin laptop because commenters point to that feature combo as evidence it isn't using bottom-tier components.

  • gamers who want upgradeable memory because multiple commenters say the 16GB RAM is soldered/non-upgradeable and "kills" the deal for them.

  • people who run heavier workloads or expect more than 16GB because commenters say "16gb just isn't enough" for their needs and that 16GB is short for today.

  • buyers who want long warranty coverage on an open-box ASUS because commenters warn ASUS open-box is treated like refurb with only about a 90-day warranty (and advise verifying).

  • buyers who expect the RTX 5060 to meet gaming expectations because one commenter questions the "good enough for light gaming" claim and implies it may not perform as expected for gaming.

  • buyers who rely on a standard full-size DisplayPort because one commenter says "No display port kills this deal," even though they later clarify it's available via USB‑C.

  • people who are sensitive to fan noise because one commenter says the fan is very loud (compared to a Dyson vacuum) during gameplay.

It looks like a good deal, but make sure your credit card company offers an extended warranty before buying an Asus product. It should still apply for even an open box model, but I can almost guarantee you ASUS products aren't built to last.

You're not going to find dedicated number pad on a 14" laptop.

wow that's really tempting, I wonder if it's not a huge downgrade from the 5070 ti since that card is so power limited. a 14 inch laptop really is a sweet spot for portability, if you're more likely to use/travel with a 14 inch than 16 then it's a total game changer

Ram is soldered sadly. 16gb just isn't enough for me.
I fully agree. The only positive part of soldered RAM is that when you buy open box you know someone didn't steal a stick or two out of it and return it.

This is a great deal for one if not the best thinner gaming laptop. Got one thanx. 16gb is more than enough for me.
Rog zephyrus always hold their value well. Still the 4060 version selling for $1k.

I got the 1299 deal in December and love it. Amazing quality, bright and very color accurate tendem oled and, for me 5060 is good enough for light gaming and it came with 3 months PC game pass. I would say if the previous onwer haven't redeemed the free XGP you probably can still get it in the microsoft store.

Reading this on my 3 year old M16 ROG Zephyrus used daily without a hiccup. Not my first ASUS, never a problem. Less problems than Dells actually.

FYI, Asus treats open box as refurb. Only 90 day warranty on these. Call Asus to verify, but that's what they told me on my last open box Asus
