I'm not a mouse nerd, but I bought this at this price about a year ago. It's a very good mouse, and I'd buy it again full price if I had to.
Logitech sucks mostly in their trying to shove their hardware launcher on you. You download it, update your devices, then turn it off for a long time. Easy to deal with
The switches for the mouse 1 and 2 buttons use an optical beam rather than a mechanical switch. Why that matters: they won't ever develop double-clicking issues, which is a chronic problem with Logitech mech mice. All the flagship mice and many of the Chinese knock-offs use optical switches now. This mouse is an old model and Logitech held out as long as possible on optical switches so they could cheap out. Better (and newer) mice will also use an optical encoder for the scroll wheel, but the main switches are usually the biggest concern for longevity.
This is a nice mouse and the shape is good but you're getting ripped off if you're paying $70 for mech switches in 2026. Many $50 Chinese knock-offs even use optical switches. The sensor performance is really a non-factor at this point because all the off-the-shelf sensors like Pixart are so good, even the Chinese mice are excellent. The Chinese software is hit and miss but Razer and Logitech both have pretty bad software so that's generally a wash in my experience.

Thanks for the info, any recommended Chinese knock-offs? my logitech recently developed double click issues and i'd like to replace it.
as others have said, there are a lot of chinese mouses that offer insane value over established brands such as Logitech where you are paying a premium for the name brand. I have a VGN F1 Pro that is currently on sale for $30 bucks on Amazon and it has been incredible compared to my Logitech G305. My G305 feels like a brick compared to my F1 Pro which has a modern sensor and is almost half the weight. Do some research on chinese mouses to get a sense of what you're getting. Start with names such as ATK R1 Pro, VGN F1 Pro, and MCHOSE L7 to name a few (There are A LOT). Aliexpress usually has cheapest pricing

Check out TechPowerUp and r/mousereview. Pzogel, the mouse reviewer for TechPowerUp, is very well regarded and even responds to stuff on Reddit. Rtings is decent even that I think their arbitrary # scoring isn't ideal for peripherals like mice, keyboards, headphones, etc. Also not all Chinese mice will be cheaper, the quality has reached parity with the big "Western" brands, so some of them are pricey as well. But many of the big brands are produced in China anyway, and off-the-shelf sensors and switches are so good that the branding imo matters less than just getting a good model. Competition has been great for the mouse and keyboard market.
Also I should add shape and comfort should be the biggest factors in buying since the sensors are all so good. I do strongly recommend optical switches though. It can be the best mouse on the market but if it doesn't fit well in your hand that's a moot point.
