Klein's convertible snap ring pliers set is a compact option for snap rings, especially when drawer space matters and the tool is only needed occasionally. The set has worked fine in light use, and the interchangeable-head design can replace multiple pliers in one case. The main drawbacks are the swappable tips, which can feel loose, be awkward in tight access, and seem less stable than standalone pliers. The pin size may also be too large for some jobs, so it fits best when the snap ring size matches the tool.

  • DIYers removing recessed snap rings, because the right tool turns a major pain into a workable job.

  • Home mechanics who need a compact drawer-friendly set, because the convertible design can replace multiple pliers and save space.

  • People who only need snap ring pliers occasionally, because the set worked fine for a few uses and can be enough for a first job.

  • Shoppers wanting a backup set for light use, because the interchangeable-head style can be acceptable when the tool is not used constantly.

  • Anyone who wants a stable, standalone feel, because interchangeable heads can feel less reliable and may come loose during use.

  • Buyers who prefer separate pliers for each end, because the convertible design is considered awkward compared with dedicated tools.

  • Technicians working in tight-access spaces, because swappable tips are frustrating to use when clearance is limited.

  • People servicing snap rings that need smaller pin sizes, because the included .058-inch pins can be too large for some applications.

Just bought these a couple of weeks ago and had to return them. It doesn't say anywhere that I can see in the amazon listing, but on the package it does say: the pins on these is .058". This was too large to use on the snap rings on my KitchenAid stand mixer. I had to grab the Channellock pliers that comes with different size pins.

Stuff like this really needs not to be on this site. 1 in 25,000 users will find this a usable deal. And is it really a deal? Does this item not ever go on sale?

This style with swappable tips is frustrating to use in any use case with tight access. I recommend buying a set of separate pliers for each end when you need this, they're cheap enough at HF.

To be fair, the first time you need these the $8 option at Walmart will likely be enough. If you figure out based on that that you need something better you may be looking for a full set of snap ring pliers, not one of these.
Thank you random user whose name my spellcheck absolutely hates.

Why is this tool getting two pages of comments. If You know what it is & You need it, then buy it. If You don't then move on.

I'm actually excited for this, I love my klein stuff but also I have a set of 4 of these pliers so I'm glad to replace with these to save a lot of space in the drawer

Can someone educate me why this is a deal when Walmat has similar one for $5.44 only?

Buy a quality tool, you own it for life. Buy a cheap tool, it fails on you when you need it most. Have you read the reviews regarding the HT set?

Harbor freight sells the same style, with the interchangable heads. Maybe keep as a backup, but they are a pain to use because the heads always come loose when working with them. It did help to put a rubber band around the base where it connects to the handle to keep it from falling apart. But very inconvenient.
Maybe these work better
