This Crucial P3 Plus 4TB NVMe SSD is a budget Gen4 drive that stands out for large-capacity storage, but it is not a high-end sustained-write performer. The drive is described as DRAMless and prone to throttling once the SLC cache fills, and a prior 512GB unit was reported as QLC with weak performance. Pricing looks elevated versus past sales, with prior buys around $190 to $220, though current storage prices are being pushed up across the market. Availability and Amazon delivery also appear inconsistent, so it is best viewed as a roomy but compromise-heavy option.

  • The SSD price can still look reasonable for a 4TB capacity after prior Black Friday purchases.

    smacky00

  • The drive may be a workable budget NVMe option because throttling is tied to SLC cache limits during sustained writes.

    monkeyass408

  • Amazon delivery can fail to residential addresses in North Carolina, creating fulfillment risk across unrelated deals.

    ThackeryBinks

  • The SSD can throttle heavily during sustained use, which may lead to a quick return.

    jones42682

  • The SSD may come in QLC and TLC variants, and the QLC version reportedly limited performance for game storage.

    RelaxedStar8863

  • Amazon ordering can be inconsistent, including cases where the listing shows not available or other offers appear at much higher prices.

not a good deal, got one last black Friday for 220. THanks for the post.
Have you seen the price trend? A price is "good" if it's below the current market price.

Got one for 512G last year from OEM, and I was extremely disappointed by the performance. There are two variants for this drive, QLC and TLC. You can check it by looking at controller revision, firmware, and NAND chip. Mine was QLC and couldn't do anything except from storing games. Not sure about 4T tho, better check out yourself.

Do you have any idea what's going on with RAM and storage with the recent AI shortage? Take a look at bestbuy and you'll see 4tbs for over 1k. They announced this around end of November and everything is already sky rocketing. DDR5, nvme storage are the main items but it will trickle down to anything that uses RAM. This won't just come and go either. Expect recovery in maybe mid-2027, or longer - Until then, this will be the norm for a good deal on RAM and storage.

This is the 3rd of 4th deal in the past 2 weeks on where Amazon says it cannot deliver to our address (North Carolina, residential) on different deals, from this hard drive, to small hand tools, etc. Many years of Amazon Prime of receiving numerous packages weekly, and never once had this message until the past 2 weeks.
Same problem here. Amazon used to be painless, but it hassles me more every year.

Same in California. Maybe have to call Amazon to see why these are popping up all of a sudden. Seen this 3x this week on deals.

Not sure what u mean? Do u mean temps or speed? Doubt its temps. These drives dont have dram. It will throttle with sustained write after the slc cache fills up. It is a budget nvme after all. Even drives with dram has its limits.

Same here. I've been noticing this more and more this past week or two, after never having seen this message before. Does anyone know what this message is about?
Something's wrong with the referral link SD uses with Amazon. Delete the item from cart, search for it on amazon, and it'll work fine.

First time I ever encountered this "error" message was back in 2023 when I was attempting to purchase hemp wraps from Amazon. I believe it might be due to some restriction pertaining to the state it's being delivered in.

It's freaking ridiculous.. these were under $200 less than a year ago.. this AI slop getting shoved down by the conglomerates have done it again, it's like the mining era all over again.
