I'm not endorsing or defending it, but this thing makes crystal clear ice cubes, not normal cloudy cubes. The design allows water to freeze from the top downward, forcing air out of the bottom as it freezes. To do this It's insulated, which is what makes it so bulky.

Incorrect. I've owned one of these for a year now. This makes crystal clear ice balls unlike the device you suggested. It's no money grab, it's a legitimately great item and I would suggest reserving judgement until you try it for yourself.

Good thing the discount is effective for more than one quantity because who want to drink alone?

Incredibly boneheaded overseas money-grab, even at that price. Hilarous that it says "space-saving design." Totally unnecessary compared to this which works perfectly (quick tap releases it) at half the net cost: https://www.amazon.com/Tovolo-Ice...B007ACTN54

My link is to two Tovolo molds. Get it?
So it does twice as much, as something similar but still different but for the same price. Got it!

This thread brought out some wierdos in the comments.
I have a couple clear ice cube/ball makers. They really elevate the experience of having a nice drink, in my opinion, and add to the "wow" factor if you host guests. If I was buying one today, I would buy one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Ice-...r=1-8&th=1

Nice, specially when the clarity will be almost all dependent on the water not the mold

I wish this deal came around sooner since I gave like 5 sets of something similar out over Christmas, but I'd still recommend the design. I've gotten so many different ice molds over the years and these individual clear sphere ones are the best by far.

1) regular uninsulated molds make cloudy ice: the cloud is actually air bubbles trapped since water is freezing from all directions at once
2) regular ice will crack when you pour in your drink because it doesn't have uniform strength throughout the sphere
3) the clear ice just last longer (more dense) and looks better. this is the difference between a good drink vs a great drink
4) other insulated molds usually make 4 cubes or spheres at once. since it has to be insulated, it's like putting a lunch box in your freezer and takes up tons of space.

These usually take a full day to freeze, just pop them into a ziplock after you're done. I like to have 3 or 4 on hand all the time.

If this wasn't just a sphere, but Shrek's head, I'd get a couple.
