I have this kit. It works with Tapo and Kasa app. If you have Kasa app first, you can install Tapo app and migrate all devices over.

Targeted perhaps - I'm not offered 25% off using the Prime card, though I am offered 2% off for choosing slower shipping.

I'm always paranoid about buying anything 'alexa' related, even if I don't set it up. Is there an easy way to block this traffic, or see if anything is being sent back to amazon etc?

Can these plugs be turned on/off by the presence of a Pixel phone? On when the phone is away from the home's WIFI. Off when the phone is connected to the homes WIFI.

I have several of these and they are good devices. Use my bedroom lights and some other items with them to set times, etc.

You can connect to these using the Kasa or Tapo app from anywhere. You can also set up schedules

I'd go with matter plugs instead. Data only goes to the matter controller you pair it with. Traditionally (non-matter) Alexa devices typically work by the manufacturer setting up a cloud service that the device communicates with constantly and that translates the device to Alexa.

Are they transitioning to tapo and away from kasa? I thought they were too separate platforms. Glad there is cross usage but why have two brands selling the same/similar thing. Any insights appreciated on the 2 platforms.
