Glad to see these coming down in price. I'll probably wait for a fanless though.

More expensive than I would think. Not sure of the transfer rate of the one I currently own. May have to look

This design is bound to overheat. The nvme doesnt contact the outershell for heat dissipation but instead gives u a small heat sink inside the shell. That small fan wont move enough air to cool both the chipset and nvme. I would avoid.

I agree. The ASMedia ASM2464PD chipset gets ludicrously hot especially on macOS due to lack of power management. A tiny little fan is not going to make up for lack of effective heatsinking. There is a reason many of them are the size of bricks.
The fan apparently spins at 7000RPM and is 40 to 60 decibels according to their own FAQ! 😬

What if I had one of those hand held portable fans that are actually super loud, strong, turbine designed?

This enclosure is giving me skepticism vibes based on what this enclosure is purported to be capable of.

My favorite is Qwiizlab Fanless 40Gbps USB4 SSD Enclosure with Aluminum case. It costs a few $$ more but keeps my NVME running fast and quiet. The problem with the cheap options is they typically include a cable that can't optimize performance. You can also over pay for some designs. For me, the Qwiizlab is just the right balance. https://www.amazon.com/Qwiizlab-E...B0DP4YZZ1X
