Don't depend on this for anything serious. This is super light-duty stuff. Maybe to rig up a phone or lighting.

A telltale sign of these cheapy tripods is those leg supports that affix to the center post. Proper tripods that you can trust for DSLRs and more proper equipment don't use those.

For a small DSLR, or mirrorless camera, with a small lens this tripod is fine for indoor use or outdoor use with no wind.

Fine for cellphone or action camera.

At $8 this is a great deal.

Decent price and reviews and over $20 (new or used) on Amazon, why not? Hopefully, I can rig it to accept a flat, lightweight LED light for flooring works.

I put a flash on these, but would never trust a dslr

I have one similar to this and would never put even a small dslr on this as it would be incredibly topheavy.

These are relics of point and shoot days, so phones today.

If you plan on getting this for a phone, check your phone width!

102 reviews with 4.7 out of 5 stars. Similar Amazon Basics tripods with 4.5 out of 5 stars and over 189K reviews.

If you have a $1K+ camera with lens, should you look for a stronger/better tripod? Yes.

A consumer DSLR, or mirrorless camera, with kit lens usually weighs 2lbs or less. Perfectly fine for this tripod, even outdoors if there isn't wind. There is even a hook on the bottom to add a little more weight for stability. This tripod blows cheap cellphone tripods out of the water. Totally good for a cellphone or action camera.

For $8 this has a detachable mounting plate, a cell phone adapter, a wireless remote, and a 3 way head with crank. It's a great deal. I wish the shaft with the crank locked down with a twisting collar instead of the thumb screw, but still.... it's a GREAT deal for $8
