The govee ones were recalled due to them having WiFi control. I'm sure some people turned them on remotely or left them on next to curtains or something that could catch fire. Every device has risks. I've got the govee one and love it. Use it all the time and it works great with zero issues. But it has the same risks as any heater just with the added potential of activstijg remotely and not remembering you covered it with a towel.

I feel like space heaters are one of those things you should avoid buying cheap, unknown Chinese brands for.

Somebody is having fun coming up with all these fake Chinese brand names.
It's all the same product under 10 different names.

True, but some utility companies (at least in the north) have rates that drop below zero often in winter.
How can rates the drop below zero? Are you saying that they pay you to use electricity?

I call BS.

You can call whatever you want. Or check Comed's 5 minute pricing earlier this week.

no matter which model you buy, the same amount of heat is coming out. 10degrees, or 180degrees. its the same amount of heat. there's no magic to make it bounce across the room, off 2 walls and hit your feet.

It's marketing. Unless the heater is like 3000W+ haha.

Would this help me work on my car in the garage while it's 20° outside?

If it's a single car garage.. this is a pretty small heater. You can keep it near you in larger garages and be comfortable, but it won't get you toasty.

as if there are non-chinese manufacturers for these...
To clarify, there is a difference between a brand and manufacturer. The manufacturer's customer is the brand. The brand's customer is the consumer.
A brand that is trying to protect its reputation has to worry about frustrating its customers. Otherwise, as the reputation goes down, so does the value of its goods. Unknown brands often don't worry about this. They can release junk, and they can ignore problems. They just need to sell enough before they get a bad reputation. And once they do, they can start over as a new brand.
Many people aren't worried about a product like this being manufactured in China. But they do want evidence that the brand has done a good job in the past, and that the brand is big enough for it to be concerned about its reputation.

OMG I had two of them and did the recall, if I would have know this was the reason I would have never done this. They were the best ever and I have been trying to replace them since with no success
