This is a very good deal with current prices the way they are.

I am a fan of Lenovo laptops.

This is a good deal but starting Jan 26th, Costco has this laptop with a faster processor (8 cores vs 6). 1TB SSD vs 512, 2 years warranty vs 1 year for $599 plus 4% rewards back if you have their visa card. Costco Item#1933667 | Model 83HY001KUS. [costco.com]

Processor & Memory:
  • AMD Ryzen™ AI 7 350 (8-Core) Processor
  • 16GB DDR5 5600MHz RAM
Drives:
  • 1TB M.2 TLC Solid State Drive

not sure about the ideapad 5 but im using the 1 right now and i wouldn't get it again. they intentionally gave me a loud fan and there is no manual fan settings. i could be doing nothing and the fan refuse to go quiet. before this i was using a dell that was silent 90% of the time and so i didn't even realize noise on a laptop would ever be a problem. they give you a loud fan to differentiate from the expensive models. i also have a legion 7i and it's silent when web surfing. it's like a jet engine when gaming but that doesn't count. so how can this massive spec'd laptop be silent and the ideapad 1 can't be? it's intentional and greedy.

DO NOT BUY LENOVO PRODUCTS. Its customer support is the worst thing I've ever experienced. Three different front-line staffers over the course of two days could BARELY speak or annunciate English and hung up on me when SUPPOSEDLY trying to connect me with technical support to answer a couple of questions about a laptop I had purchased on the Lenovo web site. Yes, all three of them hung up on me. I never did speak to anyone.
THEN, I used the links in my purchase email to start the return process. The site then said that I would receive needed codes and other information in an email within two days. I NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING.

Checked the Costco reviews online. It appears the WiFi/Bluetooth chipset are bad as they reported multiple connection drops. Hope this is not the case with this machine?

The way the specs read on this online, there does not appear to be a difference between the Wifi on the lower model (Lenovo.com) and the upgraded model (Costco). Seems to me to be the same as far as wifi. Hopefully, if there is an issue, it will be fixed with better drivers. Not 100% sure but that's how the Specs tab reads. and the model numbers are very similar. This seems to be the same machine as the costco machine, less the better processor and hdd

Usually the AMD models of most brands use a non-Intel wifi chipset. Whenever I buy them, I make sure it's replaceable. My Legion 7 had terrible wifi and I switched it out easily for $20.

Lenovo hinges are awful. Had a short lived experience with my last one and they would not honor any warranty. Hinges separated from the frame and cracked the plastic. Never again.
