I don't particularly need a generator however half the country is about to get a major storm ice ,snow, freezing temps, talks of power outages and so on 250$ I'll be searching for this tomorrow.

Does the Walmart app show instore clearance pricing? I see one not so local local store in stock but it's not showing this price

YMMV, the app showed $579, and in store it was $579. I think you can trust the app price. I scanned a compressor that was on clearance in store and the app had the clearance price.

When I scanned the barcode on the box with the app at the store it showed full price at $579 but at the self checkout it scanned at the $250 price...

YMMV, I scanned a generator with the app and it was $579, just to double check, I scanned at self check out and it was also $579.
