This is pretty solid for the price if going with a more efficient CPU like a lot of the Ryzen chips that don't necessarily need the cooling power of the Peerless and want to save ~$15 or so (Peerless usually goes on sale for around $35). Can also cool many of the more power hungry chips if not overclocking and don't mind the increase in fan noise (I have an air purifier running at all times that is louder than my PC's fans to put it into perspective).

If you're going for a higher wattage chip or boosting clocks, I'd probably still go for the Peerless, but something like the 9600X should do fine with this (overkill honestly). Looks like it can cool up to 222W effectively, which is low for a dual tower but probably more than enough for a lot of chips: https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-c...-se-review

They really shouldn't have cheaped out so much on the fans but at $20 I can't really complain. At MSRP it sucks though. Just overall an odd double tower cooler that's overkill for lower wattage CPUs where a single tower would work, but then a bit weak for higher wattage ones.

I don't think this will be as good as a peerless. It's likely to be similar to a coolermaster hyper 620s or 622

Peerless assasin has 2 89CFM (2.1 H2O) fans. The royal knight has a 66 (1.53 H2O) and a 59cfm (1.24 H2O) fan. Peerless should move more air.

There is something to be said for leaving meat on the bone (fan-wise) because a person who buys this could very easily upgrade the fans later down the line without needing to completely replace the heatsink and repaste etc.
For sure the Peerless is a better deal right now, since it's in the $30 range. For $20 though this is a great deal.

This is a good budget brand. For the money it's worth it. I own 20 plus fans make by thermalright.

This is great price if you want a dual tower that doesn't block the RAM. Very similar to Scythe Fuma.

I tried this cooler but it felt more of a side grade compared to my Burst Assassin two fan set up. It was about 2-3 degrees cooler with the Royal Knight. My CPU is 5700x3D.

I'm a big "fan" of thermalright coolers. My last two coolers from them have been rock solid. I'm currently rocking a grey peerless assassin.

From what I can gather, it appears Thermalright's coolers are the new Cooler Master Hyper 212s just to boil it down for simplicity's sake. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Solid deal, around this price you rarely see dual tower coolers. If you really need the extra cooling you can pick up a full-size front fan and replace the smaller one here but that would remove the main selling point which is RAM compatibility. Though I doubt a higher CFM fan (like the C12C on the PA120SE) would make a difference in most gaming scenarios. 8 core chips like 7800X3D/9800X3D and under will be totally fine with this cooler.

Even on sale, the Peerless assassin over double this price. The Thermalright is enough cooling for all but the top 5%.
And let's be real. All you top 5% tweakers are buying the Arctic 360mm AIO anyway. 🤣

This looks like it would be much better than the NH-U12S with the second fan. The one cooling tower on it and 4 heatpipes made my 5950X run extremely hot, as in 95C hot.

That said just today I replaced my second Thermalright 360mm AIO due to pump failure for the peerless assassin 140mm. While not as good as the AIO (when it works) its real close, and now I don't have to replace it if a pump dies. The hottest I can get it with a decent fan curve is 73C.

I also put the same peerless 140 on a 5700X and can't get that above 65C in a more restricted case. If I had known I'd have just bought this instead and saved $20. 65W CPUs don't need the peerless.

The PA is $32.50, ~50%more than the OP, and it was that price for months.
