Bough the Cobra 10" Knipex for pretty much the same price a while ago. I'm surprised at how much I use them now. While this one is not exactly the same and I'm not sure if one is better than the other or they are just different. What I do know is Knipex is a solid tool. Even if I paid full price for the one I have, I wouldn't be upset about it now.

Cobra and Alligator quality is the same. Cobra has finer adjustments and push-button adjust, but some people prefer the open and slide mechanism of Alligator. I mostly have Cobras, but can't really go wrong with either.

I prefer the Cobra Grip style. Although these do function better than channel lock style pliers, once you get the Cobra Grip Knipex you will find your go to....

I love my Cobras but sometimes I find that the push-button adjustment is too time consuming and requires two hands. I'm thinking the Alligators will be a one-handed quicker adjustment with the same grip as the Cobras. Thoughts?

IMO although both can be adjusted with one hand (rather inaccurately) I find myself using two hands for speed and accuracy. The Cobra Grips have probably 4 times the amount of adjustments giving a better grip and hand comfort. It also allows for much more leverage with less pressure...
But that's just me.
I probably have 15 pairs of Cobra Grip pliers some branded Craftsman. Every car, tool bag, place in the garage where I can't find them because I fail to put them back in the tool box....
I've used a pair to grab the side of a copper crimp band on my propane lines to my camper that were leaking. Saved a 150 mile round trip drive for new lines....

Knipex pliers are one of the rare premium product on slickdeals that nobody ever craps on for not being worth the price. Based on that I'm going to give them a try.

I have maybe 10 pairs of cobra pliers in different kits and at workshops that I part-time in. I'm getting comfort grip alligator pliers for my dad, who has advancing arthritis. I'm thinking the lack of a push button will be easier for him to manage adjustments and of course the knipex tooth pattern will have improved bite over whatever Stanley's he's had for 50 years. Gonna get these for myself bc I'm frequently one-handed when reaching for pliers.

Hands down best water pump pliers. I too prefer this adjustment method. The small channelock units are a favorite too.

Professional plumber and tool super nerd here.

Knipex produces hands down the very best channel locks/pliers of all time. I have them in both cobra and alligator in almost every size, as well as the 10" SmartGrips.
I have a weird affinity for all tools but especially pliers. And Knipex just dumps on all competition. By far the best engineering and durability and ergonomics I've ever seen.

I own about every conceivable brand of channels. Channel locks, Stanley's, Irwin's, crescents, Kleins, Vanquish, Wiha, Dewalt, Gears, SK, etc. Many fantastic products in their own right.
Knipex is in a league of its own.

I literally always carry my 10" with me all day everywhere I go. As well as a Wurrkkos slim flashlight and a Klein 15-1 driver and a Cold Steel Peacemaker III knife. But if I forget everything else, I always grab my Knipex.

Buy them.
