When comparing this tablet to the S10fe, the screen is worse and it has a bit of lag. If possible I would get an FE model or get a used S9 or S10+. During cyberweek I was able to grab two S10fe 256gb models for $273 each, so maybe another sale comes along.
I like android tablets since they have so much more functionality than an ipad but if they're going to charge ipad prices for it they need to beat it in hardware, especially SOC performance. I doubt this is competitive with the ipad in that metric.
This would be an instant buy if not for the fact that it has a worse screen than my Galaxy Tab S5e from 7 years ago.

I still use my S5e as well. Installing Lineage OS a few years ago breathed new life into it. Browsing the web is not the best experience but video playback is still awesome!

If you're getting a tablet for a kid, I personally find Android's management of child devices to be WAY better than Apple's (in terms of reliability, ease of use and feature-set). Google's "Family Link" app is really good.
