Um, uhhh... that's what she said?

I'm not sure if there's anything [normal] bigger than 12". I've browsed these comment sections before and see how many talk about the 12" saws being great but a hassle to use if you have to move it often. For something you plan to move I've seen recommendations of 10" or even smaller depending on your exact needs. I'll let someone chime in with more exact details and experience with this...

I have a DWS780 12" and never use it (it's collecting dust in the corner, not saw dust). My little 7-1/4" is my go to miter saw for practically anything in a typical house that needs to be mitered like brickmold, door and window casings, baseboard, quarter round, etc. It's so easy to move around, much more accurate, and has the capacity to cut what I typically need to cut.

If you really need the cut capacity that a big 12" slider provides such as for large crown or really tall baseboards, then practically nothing else will do, but you should really assess your actual needs before buying such a monster.

i wouldn't recommend something so big for the average homeowner, i do use it a lot for projects but it would be great if i could move my saw when working on a project upstairs for instance. trying to move that thing from the garage to another area in the house is a no go

Curious as to what brand and model 7.25" miter saw do you use? Thanks.

Have this saw. Great saw and stand. Just know it's heavy and not the easiest thing to move around.

$499 is the typical price of the 780 when it goes on sale basically anywhere, so this is a really good deal because you get the sale price AND a free stand (DWX723) that both Lowe's and Home Depot are currently selling for $249.

Great deal - IF you have the room for this beautiful monster of a mitre saw. The 780 is a beast.
