Love this camera but during winter I have to manually charge it every 2-3 weeks.

This camera hits $50 quite frequently so this is not really a deal, just normal pricing

i have two of these and neither have been online since the cold spell and the snow we got the last few days eventhough i have 15ft long USB cords running to them so they would always have power, guess they cannot handle the cold

This is the same camera that came with my Cove security system.

Anyone know if I can buy one on Amazon and add it to my Cove system?

Whoa didn't know they started making these with built in solar power now, that's awesome!

Don't trust the claim or requiring 3 hours of sunlight per day to keep it functional. I strongly recommend getting an external solar panel (you can get on average for $10-15 each). My cameras get about 5-6 hours of direct sunlight and will still lose about 2-4% of battery at the end of the day even though I only get a few event triggers a day. Extreme cold days have seen about 30% loss of charge in a single day.

After I hooked up an external solar panel, these always stay at 100% everyday minus heavy rain or very cloudy days. Also using an external panel, allows you to position your camera in shaded regions if needed.

This is the one I bought - https://a.co/d/8Xz7QVq

For the most part it's cool. The big caveat (others have mentioned), is that this needs consistent sun. It was raining consecutive days where I'm at, at the battery died. There was no way it could recharge on its on so I had to get my ladder and recharge it indoors

I've had 2 of these since the last time it was posted. You do need to charge them prior to putting them out, the sun they'll get will keep them topped up. One of them I only charged to about 70% so it took some time before it was up to full charge.
I live in the SE USA, so although we don't get brutal winters like our northern brethren, we also have plenty of below freezing weather and overcast days. These cameras have held up so far, and have yet to drop below 90% in charge. I've not had to take them down once to charge them.
I do wish they swiveled better, and ended up buying aftermarket mounting brackets that allow for better viewing angles.
The app is fine and easy to use, really no complaints there. Surprisingly good range too...I have one that is at the very end of my backyard, and it still manages to connect to my home wifi.

Dumb question... does the solar panel get warm at all to melt snow off of it? Is the radiant heat of the sun enough to do that??

I've had this for awhile. Never had to remove to charge. I'm in SoCal, works good no complaints. No subscription needed just hook up to my app and I mounted it outside in an area with partial sunlight, and never had to touch it since.

Nope! It uses on board storage that is encrypted. In theory, someone could steal or destroy your camera and you'd lose access to the recordings. They do sell a hub with its own storage that you can keep inside if that's a concern of yours. But neither the camera or gun require a subscription.

No, that is one of the best things about Eufy.
