Boy that HDMI connecter looks huge. Seems like it might run into clearance issues if the TV/Monitor/Display doesn't have enough room behind the HDMI port.
I bought it last month when it was 19.99. Just repurchased and wil return the other one, $3 bucks slicker
Joke aside, here is my impressions so far:
I have it hooked to 49" Samsung Monitor, Power comes from Asus Zenbook laptop power brick. My goal was to clean the setup and instead to have to plug in HDMI and USB-C for power into the laptop, to use a single cable.
For that purpose it worked...somewhat:
The positive:
It is the only adapter I was able to find that can output 5120x1440. Many claim to output up to 4k, including Asus original adapter(that I also have) , this is the only one that actually does it. ( at least from the half a dozed different brands I bought and returned)
The Usb-c cable is plenty long! Finally and adapter that they didn't cheap on cable. I have few dongles like UGreen Sarbent and other Chinese names, that work, they even have few extra USB ports etc., but their in the hub category and their USB-C cables are so short, that you are forced to keep them next to the laptop. (I wanted a clean desk, that's why i needed at least 2-3 feet long cable)
The Negative:
This thing is huge!!!! In did not fit in little space Samsung left for the HDMI, so I had to buy a short extension and connect this Anker to that extension. it worked for me, because I was able to attach this to my monitor arm and hide the hole thing behind the monitor. so when I want to connect he laptop , i just need to pull the USB_C cable from behind. But the whole thing needed some tinkering
So all and all I could've saved 30 bucks by keep plugging the HDMI and power directly to the laptop, but I am happy with the new setup. The only annoying thin right now is, that Amazon doesn't price match , so i have to return( still in the 30 days return window) and rebuy. Not sure how that makes sence for Amazon, but Oh, well.......
