The Fluke BK120 is a breaker finder and socket tester that stands out for clearer, more reliable tracing than cheaper Klein and Harbor Freight alternatives. It can narrow down the correct breaker, works well on mislabeled circuits, and also doubles as a non contact voltage detector. The kit is easier to use when the panel is not a wiring mess, and accessory adapters can help with light sockets or alligator clip connections. The main caution is that breaker tracing is not exact, so panel type and wiring can affect results and verification is still needed.

  • homeowners trying to find a specific breaker for an outlet swap because it can narrow down the breaker location and make testing/documenting circuits easier, even if you still verify before touching wires.

  • DIYers who have had trouble with Klein-style units because this Fluke was reported to settle on the correct breaker after a couple passes (instead of beeping on multiple breakers) and it also doubles as a non-contact voltage detector.

  • people dealing with mislabeled breakers because users said it helped identify poorly labeled breakers in their house (even if it may not do everything the Fluke does).

  • renters or homeowners who want a practical workflow for tracing when the wiring is confusing because commenters recommend energizing one breaker at a time and verifying 120 VAC at the outlet with a cheap multimeter, which pairs well with using the finder to get close.

  • buyers who want a better return experience while they test it on their own panel because community members said Home Depot is preferable to Amazon due to a better return policy.

  • people expecting it to be perfectly reliable on any panel because multiple commenters warned the technology is not 100% reliable and may ring near adjacent breakers or even fail to detect the correct one.

  • buyers who are comparing it to cheaper alternatives and want the same performance for much less because some users said the Fluke couldn't detect the correct breaker and that other brands can do the same job for less.

  • homeowners with unusual wiring where outlets are tied across floors/areas because one user said it took 4-6 breaker tries to find the correct one even after labeling over years.

  • people with shared-neutral wiring across multiple circuits because commenters said common neutral can make circuit tracing much more complicated, and that can undermine how confidently you can rule circuits in or out.

Received mine from HD and tested on two different breakers. Worked like a charm -- very easy to use and very accurate.

I'm curious, why does this have such a high SD score, currently 170? It is always this price. Are the scores for how good the deal is or how people feel about the tool?

How is this worth twice as much as this one from Harbor Freight for $28? Are you paying extra just for the Fluke brand? https://www.harborfreight.com/cir...96934.html

Anyone know if this is strong enough to sense a wire through the wall?

Thanks, but that is the reason I need to change out the switch, the light not longer comes on, so guess I need to check for voltage at the switch and see which breaker stops the power. I was hoping there was an easier way to find the breaker w/o all the breaker flipping. Oh and to make matters harder it is a 3 way switch.
If you can`t get a light to power on and the circuit is uses 3-way switches, then BOTH switches would have to fail.

Not true. If a switch fails to pass power to the traveller wires, the light will not power on , even if one of the 3way switches is good.

i have the klein one for about this price range. is this one much better? With the klein i've had issues not being able to find the breaker. it would just ring at multiple breakers.
That is common behavior for these types of detectors. It's not an exact science. The receiver may ring near other breakers next to the one you want but it's always a much stronger signal on only one breaker. Takes a bit of getting used to. This from an electrician with 40 years of experience.

This is soo overpriced !!
You can buy a set of this from Milwaukee, Klein or any other brand for much less and it will safely do the same thing!!
There is nothing special about this fluke one
All hyped up!
Disagree. I just bought the Klein ET310 kit and I couldn't get a clear reading on multiple attempts on different circuits. I then bought this Fluke one and it worked immediately. Plus it doesn't beep at me constantly while in use like the Klein.

The Klein is going back, I'm keeping the Fluke.

i have a klein one that i bought for about $60 a while ago.. It does not work very well at all. It will ring on multiple breakers none of which are the correct ones. I thought it was just user error. but looked and read more about it and it is a wide spread thing. There are some people that say it works good for them but i assume that might be under perfectly ideal conditions. Watch this video. This was the experience i had with the klein ones and im assuming other cheap ones would be the same.

Its actually not user error, nor is it because the device was wrong. Its because the house was wired with common neutral across multiple circuits at some point. If you ever want to test wether that has happened, simply install a modern arc fault circuit interrupter (as required by code in many places now) and it will immediately trip every time. That same shared neutral will make circuit tracing muchmore complicated.

how often do you check breakers to need something like this?
If you are an electrician, finding which breaker you need to turn off could be something that you do multiple times every day.
