Not sure why - the Men's Rainier rain jacket is on sale for $49.83 and the Women's is on sale for $69.93.

Seems like a slick deal on the men's jacket.

I have one of these and it's a great lightweight easy to pack travel jacket.

Anyone know how these fit? Asking because I usually buy Columbia jackets and I'm sometimes a M in theirs, while I generally need a L in most other brands.

In the reviews it looks like it runs a tad on the large side

I'd go for the L unless you want a tight fit. I usually wear a large and this is fine in that size; I can wear a light fleece underneath comfortably.

I had this jacket for a few years. It's very lightweight, great for repelling light to medium rain and wind. The one thing I hated is that the innermost layer is extremely fragile, and started flaking off after a couple years. It seems like a problem for all these 2.5 layer raincoats. Would recommend instead upgrading to 3l rei xerocloud.

Any recommendations for a summer rain coat to repel heavy rains?

Yeah it seems like you either stick with a 2L using mesh or jump to the 3L and get a full liner. The spray on liner of a 2.5L seems ripe for damage.
