This vegetable chopper is best for fast, uniform batch prep, especially peppers, onions, potatoes, and ham for chili, salads, or breakfast burritos. It can turn a pile of ingredients into evenly sized pieces in one container, and the included crevice tool or a strong sink spray can make cleanup manageable. The main concerns are the all plastic top and sharp blades, which raise durability and injury worries, and the nooks can trap food. A handy prep tool if the cleaning and safety tradeoffs fit your kitchen.

  • The chopper can produce uniform diced pieces for big-batch meal prep in one container.

  • The chopper can work well for chopping peppers, onions, and ham cubes for even distribution.

  • The chopper can be cleaned with a crevice tool and quick hand-washing of large pieces.

  • The chopper can be cleaned effectively with a strong sink sprayer for stuck particles.

  • The chopper can fail to work and may arrive nonfunctional.

  • The plastic top and press parts can wear or slice over time and potentially mix plastic into food.

  • The chopper can be difficult to clean in nooks and crannies even when it is labeled dishwasher-safe.

  • The chopper can pose a serious cut risk during use or cleaning, including thumb injuries.

Be careful with these. The top press part is plastic. Over time they get sliced and get mixed up in your food. We stopped using them.
Yeah a similar one of ours broke sometime last year finally, but never felt good using it anyway with the plastic parts. Still need to find a solid alternative that doesn't have plastic, just isn't exorbitantantly priced.

Just get good with a knife. Cut grids in everything. Onions already have layers, even better.
+1

You don't have to be "chef proficient" with a knife. Just enough to get the job done reasonably quick without hurting yourself and others. Your future self will thank you.

Bonus: Think of the $200 knife deals you will chase.

Took the tip of my thumb off with this last week. This is not a criticism of the product but a cautionary tale.
The grater, mandoline, and these types of choppers are the most dangerous equipment in the kitchen. I have a pair of NoCry cut resistant gloves for the grater, but I purposely don't own a mandoline because of how dangerous they are. I bought a food processor instead, and use a knife.

These are the angle grinders of the kitchen.

People injure themselves on these all the time. They should not be allowed to sell them without a pair of gloves, and it should come with big warnings explaining how dangerous they are and how often people get hurt.

Just look at the reviews for this single item. Lots of people in the reviews getting hurt on them.
"I nicked myself just cleaning it."
"IT IS RAZOR SHARP. Be careful when cleaning. I read this on another review. I still got a cut trying to clean onion out of it."
"it cut us several times while working with it."
"Be careful when washing the drop in grate plate - husband sliced his finger big time."

I have one of these and it works great. 10/10 would (and probably will) buy another if needed.
It makes dicing 5 peppers and 3 onions for chili into a sport!
I also use it for a "chopped salad". Everything in one container., all pieces uniform.
I wouldn't use it for "one" of anything, but for doing big batch meals, or weekly food prep, it's perfect.
I have a feeling those folks getting cut on this should probably not use anything sharp in the first place.
Cleaning it is no problem, there is a little tool included for crevices, and the large pieces get hand washed in seconds. You could just toss everything in the dishwasher, but I'm a clean as you go kinda chef.
One tip: Slamming the lid is loud, so, before using, make sure nobody in the house is sleeping.

That was my first thought too. Says dishwasher-safe, but I can imagine stuff getting caught in all the nooks and crannies.
I have one that's similar. It's dishwasher-safe, but the top grate is better cleaned by hand prior to putting it in the dishwasher. I use a dish brush and a butter knife to get the particles out.

Every single time if you look at the reviews on these types of choppers, you'll see that it gets bits of plastic in your food. The blades start shaving off the plastic bits that push the food into the blades.

I have a larger version of this. It's great in certain scenarios that justify the cleaning. For example, I like to make fresh potato salad that requires a lot of chopping. This makes it very short work of all the ingredients. I also used it for breakfast burritos, worked great. Especially for getting evenly sized cubes of ham that is more nicely distribution through the burrito. Overall, I like it.

can a knife get it done? sure. but I'll be done first. cleaning isn't that bad. mostly just a spray rinse and into the washing machine.

I have a similar set that I bought 2 years ago. Only used it twice. For me, it's not worth it.

I tried it in the washing machine like you suggested. I'm now thinking that was a typo..

This looks like it would be a nightmare to clean :-/
It's not that difficult. I don't have this specific one but one like it. Most of the time a good spray with the sink sprayer gets it clean.
