I have bought 3 Refurb Dyson, they always seem "like new" and all still work as NEW after years and years.
I don't even need a warranty with Dysons they just WORK really well! Very few things are like that these days! TWO THUMBS UP!
Under $200 is my PRICE to BUY!

This refurbished Dyson V8 Extra is a lightweight cordless vacuum that stands out for strong cleaning and a sub 200 dollar price, with the added comfort of a 2 year Allstate warranty. Refurbished Dyson units are described as arriving like new and holding up well for years, and warranty claims have been handled without much hassle in past deals. The main drawbacks are battery life and fit for larger homes, since the V8 may need recharging before a full house is done and it uses two filters. It looks best for smaller spaces or as a budget Dyson with backup coverage.

Common Questions (4)

  • It can feel short on battery for an average-size home, so you may need to recharge or swap batteries before finishing. The V8 is better suited to smaller jobs or homes where you vacuum in sections.

    FookNoemama2max

  • Yes, the V8 is reported to work well with power tool battery adapters, including DeWalt and Ryobi-style setups. That can extend runtime if the original battery wears out, though you still may need to swap batteries to finish a whole house.

    mama2maxcbjoin

  • It can help: a similar refurbished Dyson deal led to a warranty claim around 20 months in, and the needed parts were sent without much hassle. That said, some Dyson failures may still be difficult to resolve if they involve component-level repairs.

    Ammo8ZacUSNYR

  • For hard floors, the Absolute model with the microfiber head is the better pick because it cleans much better. Third-party heads may fit, but compatibility and performance are not guaranteed.

I did not like the v8 for an average size home. Battery was never enough. And that it requires 2 filters. I ended up giving away the v8 for a better model.

I got the V11 thru a deal such as this. It worked but had issues. I just made a warranty claim about 20 months in (manufacture claim) and they sent me what I needed. It was a lot easier than expected and I would repurchase. Off to check this one out.

Decent deal, but I recommend anyone with hard floors get the Absolute model that has the microfiber head. Works SO much better. You could try the 3rd party ones, but I can't vouch if they are comparable or not.

I have this model and when the battery died a few years ago I bought an adapter to use it with my dewalt batteries, which last longer than the original. They also made adapters to use with other types of tool batteries like ryobi etc. That said I agree you can't really vacuum your whole house without recharging or switching batteries. I have a few dewalt batteries so I just switch them out if it dies before I'm done using it

How much of an upgrae3 would the V8 Absolute be ove4 my old V7 Fluffy?

I just bought an aftermarket battery because the last one died, but I'm contemplating grabbing a new one if the price justifies it.

Not much. You'll only notice a slight improvement.

Afaik the V8 is the best one that works with power tool battery adapters.
