Ridgid's 18V subcompact drill and driver kit stands out as a quieter, compact option with solid torque for everyday DIY work, and the lifetime service agreement adds real value when the tool is registered. The drill and impact are described as favorites, and the impact driver is compared favorably with older Milwaukee and Ryobi tools. The main caution is store specific pricing and stock, since availability ranges from sold out to clearance finds and the price has varied from about $45 to nearly $78. A practical pick if you can find it locally and want Ridgid's warranty support.

Common Questions (4)

  • Yes. The kit has been found on clearance end-caps, on shelves with other clearance items, and even stored high above the regular clearance area, so an in-store check can pay off when the website says unavailable. Stock and price vary by location.

  • Yes. Registered RIDGID tools are covered by the lifetime service agreement, which can be handled through a web form or by dropping the tool off at Home Depot's rental area for shipping. Replacement service can include a new chuck or even a brand-new unit.

  • The clearance price has been seen at $58.05, but some stores show different pricing such as $71.10, $77.98, or $78.05. One purchase came to $61.90 out the door after tax, and some remaining stock later dropped to $45.02.

  • It is reported to be much quieter than the Milwaukee M12 brushless subcompact drill/impact kit, and the RIDGID impact driver is also favored for indoor screw driving because it is noticeably quieter than a standard M12 Fuel impact. That makes it a better fit when noise matters.

The subcompact impact driver by rigid is one of my favorite tools, albeit incredibly loud lol. Gonna see if I can hunt this down in my area.

I JUST bought the drill and impact kit. To me, it was much quieter than my m12 brushless subcompact drill and impact kit. I've decided to switch my tools over to Ridgid as needed. I love Milwaukee but the prices for DIY is catching up.

It was one of my favorite tools as well. However, mine broke after about 1 year of light use. The chuck actually broke. I was bummed because i liked it a lot!

Lifetime warranty (if you registered it). Use the web form and they'll give you a label to ship it in and they'll send it back with a new chuck.

I have the M12 Fuel Impact and the M12 Fuel SURGE Impact. I use the Surge every time. It is incredibly quiet, to the point I sometimes wonder if it is working because it sounds so much different. Worth the investment if you are driving screws indoors often(or ever and you have the extra cash).

Better deal than the $45 deal with the shop light? I have this drill but a second one seems more useful than a light

Depends on which light. I like to have option for shop/auto & emergency lighting when/if power goes out.

Seems like the floor space for Ridgid is shrinking (at least at my HD) and Milwaukee and DeWalts presence is expanding. It would be nice for a new line from Ridgid to stay competitive!
