This Legion Pro 5i pairs a 16 inch 1600p OLED 165 hertz display with an RTX 5070, and the standout appeal is the screen. The OLED gets praised for deep blacks, around 500 nits of brightness, and an overall excellent picture, while the chassis is described as reasonably quiet and well cooled for the GPU. The main concerns are the 8 gigabytes of VRAM and 16 gigabytes of system RAM, which can feel tight at native 2560 by 1600 and are not easy to justify upgrading later. It looks strongest as a premium gaming laptop where display quality matters most.

  • Laptop gamers playing at the built-in 1600p OLED panel, because the display is praised as amazing with deep blacks and strong brightness.

  • Players upgrading from older midrange GPUs, because frame generation feels like a major improvement and the machine still runs most games well on the laptop screen.

  • Gamers who want a quiet high-performance laptop, because the cooling is described as warm under load without high-pitch fan whine.

  • Gamers who want to drive an external monitor at native 1600p, because the 8GB VRAM can run out often at that resolution.

  • Power users planning to keep lots of games and apps open, because 16GB system memory is a limiting spec and is not reasonably upgradable aftermarket.

  • Shoppers expecting desktop-class RTX 5070 performance, because the laptop version uses a smaller 5060-class die and should not be compared directly.

Every review I have seen says this machine does great on temp. Check notebookCheck for good reviews that go in depth on build quality and the like if you care to. Just google the model+year+notebookcheck.

As for the other person who respondoed to you, the 5090 is a totally different animal than a 5070 in laptop. Massive massive difference on heat output.
I have the same Legion 5090 laptop as Elon69 as we picked it up from another thread around the same time. I can tell you that the heat isn't bad, 70C on GPU at full load, it's the 275HX that hits 105C. With the 255HX also having 8 P-Cores and 4 less E-Cores as the 275HX, it's going to be pretty similar. Lenovo did a good job with their GPU heat dissipation, unfortunately the CPU is a different story. The worst thing about the 5070 laptop in 2026 is the 8GB VRAM. At 2560x1600 native resolution, it's larger than 1440p, you will run out often in most games. Most of the games I have tested use 12GB or more at that resolution. Couple that with only 16GB DRAM during this RAM crisis and it's a pretty abysmal spec because you can't even upgrade reasonably aftermarket.

If the screen were 1920x1080, that would be a different story.
