Community Reviews
This Legion 5 stands out as a strong value for a high end gaming laptop, with the Ryzen 9 9955HX, RTX 5070, 32GB of RAM, and 2TB SSD drawing praise against comparable systems that usually start much higher. The 16 inch QHD plus 165Hz OLED display and rear power and HDMI ports add to the appeal, along with the lighter non Pro chassis and convenient dock support through the USB C port with power delivery. The main tradeoffs are battery life, which is expected to be under 3 hours and can drop fast under GPU load, and a huge 400W charger that makes it less portable. It looks best as a desktop replacement with premium specs and a sharp screen.
Common Questions (5)
Battery life is expected to be short: around under 3 hours in normal use and possibly under 2 hours with this CPU, and it can drop to about 1 hour when the GPU is active. It is better treated as a desktop replacement than a portable all-day laptop.
It is fairly heavy at about 5.5 lbs, and the 400W charger is described as a huge brick that adds a lot to carry. It is not ideal if you plan to move it around often.
The non-Pro is lighter and has rear power and HDMI ports, while the Pro is described as having better build quality, hinges, and cooling. The non-Pro also reportedly has USB4 40 Gbps, and the Pro's battery life is said to be worse with the higher-power CPU.
Yes. Comparable specs are said to usually start around $1600, and the Ryzen 9 9955HX, RTX 5070, 32GB RAM, and 2TB SSD are described as an unusually strong value at this price.
Yes. The USB-C port with power delivery can be used to attach a dock such as a Caldigit, making it suitable for a single-cable desk setup.

Also apparently the Pro 5 doesn't have a USB4 40 Gbps port? Pretty sure the non pro does which is weird.

I unplugged my Legion while the GPU was working, it instantly say 1 Hour left on the battery. (it was 100% and this is brand new machine) so bring your charging brick and mine takes 400 watts power. lol. omg.
Keep it near a power source!
