Price of a footlong 1965 was $0.49 on $1.25/hr. Today that would be $2.84 on $7.25/hr.
But if you live in a high cost of living state, a sub under this promotion would be affordable when proportioned, $16.90 is CA (as of the minimum wage increase this year), so a footlong would be good when price maxed at $6.61. $12.99/2 = $6.495
For minimum wage states, it is a bad deal. Just my opinion. If one finds themselves in a minimum wage state, the wage this would be affordable on would be ($6.495) $16.56/hr. minimum. If you make that much, it would be worth it.
Guys, I am not trying to lie to you. Be informed before you use these deals.

I don't ever comment, but I respectfully disagree. As an economist, you seem stuck in reference pricing. If salaries were the same as they were in 1965, I'd see your point, but when a sub costs $10–$14 on average today... well, there's your math. Reference pricing just makes us feel worse about paying more than we used to, regardless of the current economic reality.
With that logic we should be paying $0.65 a gallon for gas too.

I appreciate whoever posted...
I am getting gas under the proportion back when gas was $0.10 on $0.25/hr. in 1938. It can be done! Does that mean I would never buy gas above that price? No. But be reasonable. Now days, I am getting it under $2.90 a gallon on $7.25/hr. $2.90 is what it should be. In California, people are complaining about gas prices. They can afford it on $6.75 a gallon proportioned to $16.90.
Just be informed and make your decisions. Things are definitely skewed and I blame the real estate market, apartments, etc. They are way out of range. Buy property in West Virginia, a house should be $113k. One can get a house for $30k.

I'll give this a try later but my local subways weren't participating in these codes for Jan. I think they're trying to rely only on the every 4th sub free. Min wage here is pretty high, your price anchoring is kinda funny imo though, should compare it to mid 2000s "$5 footlong" instead

Honestly, this deal out of the two $6.99 or $12.99; this would be more worth it. I am on a complete boycott, especially since I am getting Jersey Mike's subs for free playing their NHL game.
