huh? starlink is fully dependent on spacex.

my router shouldn't require connections to the manufacturer, and they shouldn't have the ability to remotely brick it.

Description in MC page is incorrect. This switch has 12 1Gb POE+ ports, not POE++. Some of recent WiFi7 APs require POE++. Only 4 2.5Gb ports are POE++.

Pretty sure this "breaking news" is an investment play to short Ubiquiti stock.

Why would Russia want to buy US networking hardware? That would be like the US wanting to buy Chinese networking hardware or Iran buying Israeli networking hardware. The potential for spying/backdoors is enough to make the enemy's networking gear completely undesirable, even to non-state consumers.

It's Cheap
It Works
Reverse Engineering/ Red-Team
Easier than getting the components/chips or setting up foundries/fabs to roll indigenous silicon
Edit: I actually think the bigger draw is that Ubiquiti generally doesn't monetize the software or require subscription schemes. Same as the rest of us.

Very easy to Google. There is also a new podcast from Pablo Torre about the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies who also owns this company.

SpaceX are now making efforts to limit use of gray Starlink in russian attack drones. Does it mean no one will buy Starlink? Not

I've been eyeballing this switch for the better part of a year now but keep holding off because the power supply attachment that allows it to fit in a full width rack was always out of stock. I never paid much attention to the ports since I figured all ports were 2.5gbps. Your post made me look twice and sure enough, only 4 ports are 2.5gbps, the rest are 1gbps.

I almost drove to microcenter tomorrow just to get it at $50 off but now i'll wait and see what other 2.5gbps options come out.

At the minimum they should follow US export control requirements

I have the switch and can confirm. I really wish it had doubled the number of 2.5gb ports at least. I use the 4x 2.5gb ports to go to my 4 WiFi 7 APs and use the SFP to connect to another switch that has more non-poe 2.5gb ports. The Ubiquiti 4x desktop switch with 2.5gb ports isn't badly priced at all and fills the rest of my 2.5gb needs.

Realtek launched a bunch of cheap 10Gb chipsets in the Q3 last year. So there will be a bunch of new motherboards and switches coming out with 10Gb this year. So waiting if you can might be a good idea.

I regretted getting my ProMax 24 Poe switch. Because i ran out of 2.5 ports quickly. And ended up grabbing a Pro XG switch so had more ports. Plus the 2.5 AP's don't really have enough bandwidth for more than 1 device with wifi 7 MLO so a 10Gb AP is a much better option. Not that you need to 5Gb on your phone.

Fully agreed on all counts. But the fact remains that selling (or allowing your hardware to be sold) to Russia, right now, is the big bad, so they're getting some negative press on this.
How does selling gear to an average Russian effect me at all? I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Or are you saying they are selling ubiquiti to the Russian military? I'm not following the logic here. But then again, I haven't heard anything about what people are talking about here.

I wanted one POE++ 2.5GB plane so I got their 24 port 400W POE MAX HD whatever switch, at $999. Buy once, cry once! Powers 4 WAPs, 4 room switches, a Raspberry Pi, and 2 cameras. Literally removed that many AC adapters from the wall sockets.

Hunterbrook is a class-action law firm, a hedge fund, and a "news" site.
If you consider that a source of legitimate information, you're a complete and utter moron.
