Fun game for anybody who hasn't played it yet. Has some systems similar to Persona games with some quality of life improvements

Great deal! saw it on sale for about the same price on the PSN store but I'm much happier to have a physical copy, grabbed one.

Almost the same format as Persona 5 but with differentn skin & story line but without romance. I consider myself a big Atlus fanboy but it was a disappointing game for me.

I don't want to anger anyone with my opinion...

I have never been a big fan of the Persona franchise. It wasn't for me. Is this anything like the Persona games? I don't care for doing high school tasks, making friends, time of day constraints. I want an experience. I want a good ole turn-based jrpg. Any input?

This has some similarities to the Persona games. For example a similar calendar system with events occurring during day/night, deadlines on the calendar to complete tasks, hanging out with comrades/friends to build bonds, etc. It's a fantasy setting though, so no high school tasks. In Persona 5, each character was kind of rigid, like they had a specialty or thing they were good at, and while characters in this game do have strengths, it's like a job/class system where each character can learn almost every job available so you can really tinker with your party and their skills. Battle is turn-based. It's a fun time but FWIW I did like Persona 5 Royal better

Do you mind explaining why this didn't click for you and what Atlus game is a good starter game? I haven't played any but thinking about starting with Persona 3 Reload or 5 Royal.

Persona 5 Royal is one of the best 3 video games in my life. I first played vanilla Persona 5 (non-Royal) several years ago, and it was already one of the best games I have ever played. Then I recently have replayed P5R, then it was definitely an improvement over the vanilla 5. The only drawback, if you have limited leisure time, is the volume of the game. It is a massive game.

And why I didn't like the Metaphor: It's indeed a great game. I just felt like it was a self plagiarism of Persona 5. Fantasy background also made it a little too hard to fully buy into stories of each character.

Persona 4 Golden is also a masterpiece. However, they're working on a remake, so it's hard to justify playing Persona 4 now.

Persona 3 Reload is the foundational game that laid the mechanics of all games above. But I felt dungeons are boring and repetitive.
