While it's the only deal right now, it's been much cheaper in the past if you can hold out for a better deal, which may or may not come
Yeah it's not great. But just wanted to post in case anyone was desperate. I didn't buy it as I'm hoping prices will come down. Not even sure when Denon regularly has their sales, maybe Memorial Day next?
Still can't believe these are still selling at retail prices. I got my refurb unit direct from from Denon for $999 shortly after this receiver came to market in 2023. Purchased dirac and dirac bass control with the price difference.
Folks who keep saying it was much cheaper in the past: you do know that was before tariffs and Dirac ART became possible on the 3800, right? You could be waiting a LONG time before the price you've seen comes back. My bet would be when the next gen ART-capable Onkyo AVRs come out, finally giving Denon some competition (no sooner than 2027 but could be later as the prototypes at CES were not working models).

So instead, make sure to keep on paying high prices to send positive reinforcement to them that there's no need to lower prices given people like you will just "justify" it, right ?

Great logic
I don't have the power to keep prices up. It's just simple supply vs demand. Denon couldn't maintain the high ask if it meant losing business. If Denon is too premium for you, there are copious Onkyo products from Adorama, EE, etc. What's the point of complaining here? Seems like a waste of time to me!

You do have a good point.
If they sold for $1k(I bought at that price) in the past, they can't be losing any more money now.
Now whether it goes back down to that price again is a whole other question.
This reason it's because of this Dirac "premium", is a misguided agenda ime.
For one, it's only advantageous if you actually take advantage of it.
The funny irony here is Shaddai doesn't even believe that the DLBC premium is even worth it let alone ART for him!
He could have added ART premium for $440 back on BF but didn't!
The reason you pay the premium is you prefer Denon & use the added benefits(ie access to all 3 Dirac licenses, independent sub outs, independent preamp mode, all 11 assignable channels) over competitors at the time.
With Onkyo adding access to DLBC & independent sub outs with current units.
Unless you needed those other benefits & more than 9 channels.
The Onkyo RZ30 gives you pretty much all the premium this does & most would need ime.
Ol Shaddai is a prime example, he only needs Dirac Live & that's included on the RZ30 for $700!
Owning all 3 Dirac licenses & setting it up on 3 other setups.
For most people going after ART isn't really worth the cost(ie Shaddai again) ime.
Especially with the new Onkyo models coming out.
You'll pay a premium for access(ie D/M units) and another $300 for DLBC & $300 for ART!
Likely a 20% off that during BF!
