This Dremel Blueprint is a compact 12 volt drill driver with a stud finder and detachable laser level, aimed at quick household tasks and tight spaces. The included 2 amp hour battery and charger make it especially appealing for anyone already in the Bosch or Dremel 12 volt ecosystem, and the battery and charger alone are said to be close to the deal price. The drill has enough torque for most fasteners, the stud finder works well, and the physical screw and unscrew switch is a nice touch. The bulkier body and gimmicky stud finder attachment are the main knocks, so it fits best as a handy secondary tool.

  • The included 2Ah battery and drill can fit easily into an existing Bosch 12V tool setup.

  • The stud finder reportedly works well for locating studs during installation tasks.

  • The detachable laser level can be handy for quick small jobs without walking to the garage.

  • The battery and charger reportedly cost about the same as the deal price when bought separately.

  • The stud finder design can feel gimmicky and the non-removable unit may interfere with work.

  • The stud finder may get in the way even though it can be useful for some applications.

  • The drill/driver may feel less suitable for drilling if its RPMs over 1500 are not fast enough for expectations.

  • The Blueprint body can be bulkier than compact alternatives, which may reduce comfort in tight spaces.

Why do you prefer the Bosch? Also, I have the M12 fuel drill and impact... why might I want something like the installation one? Just curious I'm sure I'll find out on my own...

The installation driver is on sale from HD for $159, it comes with a 5.0 battery.

the Bosch chameleon installation driver is smaller and the shape of a compact drill, with the reverse and forwards button on the same configuration as your standard drill, while the M12 forward and reverse buttons are on top, the shape of the M12 is similar to the festool installation driver.

It is mostly the size of the Milwaukee Installation driver, you usually need it to get into tight spaces, but the body is bigger than the M12 Fuel impact and Surge. If they just added the different heads to the M12 Surge, it would be perfect for me and an instant buy. The changeable heads on the Bosch Chameleon are also better IME, easier to change angles, and just thought out better. Now the Milwaukee M12 Surge, you would have to pry out of my cold dead hands, my favorite impact of them all.

The direction changing on the M12 would make me so much slower. Certain things I do benefit from a lot of quick direction changes. I bought the Bosch chameleon largely because it uses the classic direction switch above the trigger.

Looks pretty gimmiky. That nonremoveable stud finder seems like it would get in the way of my work.

It does. Same with the Milwaukee one with the changeable chucks. The only redeeming quality of this one is that at least the stud finder is useful for some applications and the screwing/unscrewing switch on this one is physical instead of a membrane at the top of the driver.

Oh, and the price. This one is 1/3 the price of the Milwaukee one.

Anything small like this with rpms over 1500?
Fastest I can find is a Fantik at 1200 too slow for good drilling.
