This MacBook Pro deal stands out for the 24GB memory configuration at $1499, which is the main draw over the usual 16GB setup. The Space Black finish is the only discounted color, and it gets attention for its matte look and fingerprint resistance, though silver is still favored for hiding wear, staying cooler in sun, and possibly holding resale value better. The 512GB storage is the main limitation, with higher storage options discussed separately at higher prices. A solid value if 24GB matters more than extra SSD space.

  • Office laptop buyers who want 24GB of memory, because this configuration avoids the 16GB tier and gives more headroom for heavier multitasking.

    Spaceman6969SociableMeat170

  • Outdoor workers using a laptop in direct sun, because the silver finish can run cooler when working outside.

    BuyMoreChuckPonder

  • Careful laptop owners who prefer a lighter-looking finish, because silver hides flaws better and does not show fingerprints as much as black.

    PonderGoGo98102

  • Power users who need local storage for AI models and large programs, because the 512GB configuration is too small and a 1TB SSD is preferred.

    Papi-ChinoChinmayA

  • People who want a laptop finish that stays visually clean, because Space Black can show fingerprints and scratches more readily.

    GoGo98102Ponder

  • Buyers set on a silver finish, because the discount applies only to the Space Black color.

Is it because of preference? Not sure why silver is more desirable. It just color.

From what I have learned, the black one attracts a lot more finger prints and on top of that, it's basically silver painted with black paint. As a result when scratched, it shows silver on the marks.

NOT painted. If you are scratching them enough to see undercolor.......yikes!!
"Space Black MacBooks are manufactured using a specialized, advanced anodization process on high-grade aluminum that creates a dark, matte finish while significantly reducing fingerprints. Unlike paint, this chemical process alters the metal's surface to create a "sealed" structure that is more resistant to smudges and oils."

I mean if you're using your 14 / 16 inch laptop like a pick-up truck on a construction site, sure, but other than that there is zero reason to 'worry' about scratching off the anodized finishing on the black version. Been using it every day for office use since M3 was introduced and have zero issues.

Aluminum is annodized. It's like metal plating, but it scratches easily

I have not noticed that yet, but I tend to be gentle. It is frequently reported as an issue. Silver many like because it is classic and many feel it hides flaws better and is cooler in the sun. It also tends to have slightly higher resale value. Some hate the reflections. I prefer buying onsale and black is normally the only option offered.

I don't think silver is worth the current three-hundred dollars price difference.

LoL you could always wrap it or spray paint it silver. For $300 I think I could make an exception. Back in the day we would pay artists to spray paint our laptops. Now you have non destructive wraps. This generation....
