For all the pros and cons of old Southwest versus its competitors (more expensive than budget airlines, lower frills than big airlines, etc), the relative lack of mental hassle in booking a Southwest fare made it (usually) a no-brainer. We took a lot of trips we might not have taken just because the refund policy made us less hesitant to book travel. Now it's a tweener—all of the hassle of its competitors, but not as cheap as a budget airline or as nice / flexible as a big carrier. Why bother?

If I cancel my current companion ticket and then cancel my wife's ticket... then rebook my wife's current ticket (no increase of fare at this moment) .... then re-add myself as her companion .... will we then qualify for this new promotion and get another companion pass for the end of summer?
I think so, but has anyone double-dipped like this and it worked out?
