The CR Scan Ferret SE is a budget 3D scanner that works best for textured models, rough reverse engineering, and quick reference scans. It can capture usable shapes for redesign work, and the wireless upgrade kit is listed separately at $116. Accuracy is limited for 3D printing, fine details, small objects, and large featureless surfaces, which may need locator dots or multiple scans stitched together in software. The computer connection is described as faster and more accurate than the WiFi bridge, making it a practical starter scanner if you can live with post processing.
Makers doing rough reverse engineering, because it can produce a usable reference scan for rebuilding parts from scratch.
Hobbyists making textured 3D models, because it works well for textured captures even though it lacks print-ready precision.
Shoppers scanning person-sized or mug-sized objects, because the capture range is limited and those sizes fit within it.
People needing 3D-printable scans or reverse engineering with fine tolerances, because it lacks the precision for those jobs and loses fine details.
Owners of large, detail-poor objects, because the scanner can lose track unless you add locator dots and combine multiple scans.
DIYers scanning basic car parts, because the scanner was insufficient for that kind of object.

It was good enough for a quick scan as a reference to completely reverse engineer and re-model something from scratch with rough details.
I wouldn't expect to scan anything and print without significant human effort in post-processing. Really a HUGE jump between here and even ~$600 RevoPoint Inspire/PoP.
In the end it was a novelty that saved me playing with calipers for and doing an initial drawing and measurements, but that just wasn't worth it for me.
Even better, learn how to use calipers.
Wait - so you're saying scanning and making prints of items isn't useful for this? That's its primary purpose, and the whole reason I'd buy one.
