This 12.1 inch Onn Pro tablet stands out as a cheap Helio G99 Android 14 slate with a bright, sharp screen and a sturdier, more premium feel than Fire tablets. It handles streaming, browsing, reading, and light gaming well, with 6GB of physical RAM, microSD expansion, Wi Fi 6, and removable bloatware. The main drawbacks are no headphone jack, USB C 2.0 with no video out, and open box condition that can range from spotless to beat up. Some units also show flicker, brightness quirks, Wi Fi instability, or slow updates, so it is best suited to light everyday use.
The screen is described as gorgeous and bright for media watching like MLB games.
The device supports micro SD expansion for additional storage beyond onboard capacity.
The tablet can play YouTube up to 1440p after installing the November 2024 update.
The tablet can run Android updates through July 2025, with updates reportedly arriving in 1-3 month intervals.
Bluetooth audio reportedly works without noticeable issues during Xbox Cloud use with a Bluetooth controller connected.
The tablet can show stepwise brightness changes during dark-to-bright transitions, which some users find annoying for media.
The tablet lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack, which can require a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter workaround.
The open-box unit can arrive with a dead battery or half charge, which adds setup friction.
Wi-Fi performance can be unstable on some networks, including frequent connect/disconnect behavior that may require router resets.
