Roku Streaming Stick Plus 2025 is a simple 4K HDR streamer that stands out for easy setup, smooth everyday performance, and a cleaner interface with fewer ads than some rivals. It works well for casual streaming, even on modest Wi Fi, and the current price makes it feel like a solid value. The main drawback is that it lacks MPEG 2 hardware decoding, so over the air TV playback can stutter unless you step up to the Streaming Stick 4K. The voice remote also seems prone to wearing out over time, making this a practical pick if you mainly want straightforward streaming.
The Roku Streaming Stick Plus can throw fewer ads in front of casual viewers than other platforms.
The Roku Streaming Stick Plus can set up fairly easily and perform well for everyday streaming use.
The Roku Streaming Stick Plus can work smoothly on a wired network connection where older streaming devices stalled or buffered.
The Roku Streaming Stick Plus can decode AV1 in hardware, including HDR content.
The Roku Streaming Stick Plus lacks an MPEG-2 hardware decoder, which can cause choppy playback for OTA or free TV workflows like Tablo.
The Roku Streaming Stick Plus voice remote can break about every 1.5 years with daily use.
The Roku Streaming Stick Plus can have an initial remote volume up or down glitch with some TVs.
The Roku Streaming Stick Plus may feel slower than a hardwired Ethernet Apple TV in some setups.
