No, but immediately transfering the eggs to ice water after cooking does. Leaving them in there for a long while 15: minutes or so) to cool isn't supposed to make a difference, but in my experience it does. I initially tried to get the water to the exact temperature factories use, but just filling a bowl with 1/3-1/2 ice and adding water works. Been using one of these cheap little egg cookers about once a week for years. Add eggs and water, wait for buzzer. Perfect every time, unlike when I boil them.

As suggested, put them in ice water immediately. But you'll sometimes get a batch of eggs that are just hard to peel. A thicker/harder shell than you usually get.

If this cooker is anything like Dash, it has an annoying musical chime when your eggs are finished cooking that kind of beats the purpose of auto shut-off.

These things are freaking great, cooks hard boiled eggs effortlessly, comes out perfect every time, also really easy to peel. Only been using mines for about a month, but love it.

I guess a pot of boiling water is too hard.

Woot sells stuff that Amazon couldn't give away. This was likely frequently returned.
This does not boil the eggs, it steams them. It's also about convenience and the ability to perfect make soft, medium, and hard boiled eggs. I make soft boiled before work most mornings and no way would I have time to boil water, drop them in, be ready to take them out exactly when needed. You add a water level to these, and when the water runs out they are done even if the device is left on.

I normally get these: https://www.samsclub.com/ip/13890314795 so i don't have to peel etc etc

.41/egg seems like a good proposition when considering how much time saved

But thinking these will taste better fresher, in for one

Totally agree with this. We got one of these from a Kroger clearance eye and it has worked great for 10 years. Ours has a gradient on the water to choose if you want poached, soft boil or hard boiled eggs as well. We have never used ice water bath and just let them sit in the machine an extra 15-20 minutes after cooking and they peel pretty easy most of the time.

Yep, most kitchen gadgets are junk but these work great. Set it and forget it, mine makes a happy chime when it's done, and the eggs peel easier than any other method I have tried. I don't worry about an ice bath, just peel them under running water.

My local, independent grocery had 30 medium eggs for $1.99 Sunday on special. Remember the Waffle House 50¢ per egg surcharge? Never forget!? Nice to see something getting back to normal. Can I offer you a nice egg in this trying time?

Meh, I bought one of these electric egg cooker things thinking it would be easier but it's really not. For the electric egg cooker you have to poke a hole in the top of each egg. Sometimes the white will bubble up OUT of the hole while it cooks them.

Here's a foolproof way for hard boiled eggs. Put eggs into a pot of water. Bring to a boil and then set timer for 11 minutes. Drain boiling water, leave eggs in pan and let tap water run in the pan until you feel it's staying cool. In a few minutes peel the eggs. I do this, they peel perfect every time.
