This Bella egg cooker is a handy set it and forget it gadget for hard, medium, and soft boiled eggs, with steaming that shuts off when the water runs out. The strongest praise is for consistent results and easier peeling, especially when eggs are cooled right away in ice water or cold water. It also saves time, avoids stove boiling, and works well for regular use or larger batches. The main cautions are occasional cracking, a possible water mess or smell, and the included chime may be annoying. A practical pick for quick egg prep.

  • People who want easier peeling for egg salad or meal prep, because the eggs come out easy to peel and can be cooled right away.

  • Busy cooks making hard, medium, or soft eggs, because it cooks reliably, shuts off when the water runs out, and lets you walk away.

  • Households cooking eggs in quantity, because a larger batch can be done at once and a second unit can double output.

  • Office kitchens without easy access to a stove, because it works anywhere you can plug in and avoids boiling water.

  • Shoppers sensitive to loud end-of-cycle alerts, because the finish chime can be shrill and annoying.

  • People expecting poached eggs to be the main attraction, because poached eggs are described as sounding awkward and taking only a short water-bath cook.

  • Farm-fresh egg owners who need easy peeling every time, because very fresh eggs can be hard to peel.

  • People who want completely mess-free countertop cooking, because water can spill on the counter and the cooker can run dry and smell up the kitchen.

It's a good deal. Bought the exact same model in 2023, been using it a couple times a month. Make sure to use distilled water. It's one of the rare kitchen gadgets that are not gathering dust somewhere.

If this cooker is anything like Dash, it has an annoying musical chime when your eggs are finished cooking that kind of beats the purpose of auto shut-off.
I don't remember the sound being particularly musical on the Dash I had 10 years ago, but I do remember it being so shrill and loud that it freaked the cat out every time it went off. I ended up disassembling the base to determine where the speaker was at and snipping the wires to it.
None of the product info I could find on this one indicates it has a noisemaker, nor could I find it called out in any of the videos. We'll give it a shot, as it was handier and quicker than boiling eggs on the gas stove.

Meh, I've had one of these things thinking it would be easier but it's really not.
You have to poke a hole in the top of each egg. Sometimes the white will bubble up OUT of the hole.

Here's a foolproof way for hard boiled eggs. Put eggs into a pot of water. Bring to a boil and then set timer for 11 minutes. Drain boiling water, leave eggs in pan and let tap water run in the pan until you feel it's staying cool. In a few minutes peel the eggs. I do this, they peel perfect every time.
Never heard of poking a hole in the tops of the eggs, nor have I ever done that when using one of these egg cookers. I leave them in the shell in a tray in the fridge until I'm ready to eat them. Sometimes one or two will crack while cooking, but usually not. They last at least a week in the fridge if not more.

I've tried the poking a hole thing but haven't really heard it before, just assumed the steam would get in and help separate the membrane etc. Didn't ever work how I thought it would. Also i heard you actually don't want the freshest eggs when doing this. Like a week or 2 or more old eggs, and the peel betterI am still new to HBE

No, but immediately transfering the eggs to ice water after cooking does. Leaving them in there for a long while 15: minutes or so) to cool isn't supposed to make a difference, but in my experience it does. I initially tried to get the water to the exact temperature factories use, but just filling a bowl with 1/3-1/2 ice and adding water works. Been using one of these cheap little egg cookers about once a week for years. Add eggs and water, wait for buzzer. Perfect every time, unlike when I boil them.
I have mixed results with this. Sometimes ice baths/cold water immediately after boiling works, sometimes it doesn't. I hears if the eggs are older they peel better. I don't know about that either.

I'm not a fan of one hit kitchen wonders BUT I make an exception for egg cookers.
No need for timings, vinegar, boiling, air frying, pressure cooking, ice baths, (unless you need them right now), old eggs or any of that other nonsense.
Perfect, easy peel eggs EVERY TIME. Literally set it and forget it. Walk away, come back 10 minutes or two hours later and you're eggs are done.
99/100 eggs jump out of their shell.
For $10, I'm buying a backup (or for mass potato salad day).😁

I guess a pot of boiling water is too hard.

Woot sells stuff that Amazon couldn't give away. This was likely frequently returned.
Yeah I thought that too until my kids would eat like 7 a day. One of our most used small kitchen appliance.

95% of the time they are perfectly cooked and easy to peel. Cannot say the same about pot of water.

I mean for $10, why not. $100, yeah maybe I could see your point.

my wife has one of these of a similar brand, they do their job. But always seem to either leave a mess of water on the counter or run out of water and smell up the kitchen. I find it would be a lot easier just to do it on the stove or pressure cooker if feeling lazy.

So much easier than boiling a pot of water, then having to gently insert the eggs into the hot water, then draining the water without getting burned and then waiting for the eggs to cool before handling. Not to mention all of the gas or electricity to run your stove each time.

My Aroma rice cooker (I think I bought off Woot) has a steaming basket and I use that for steaming eggs. I also use the rice cooker for oatmeal every morning, and rice at least once a week.

It's very convenient and definitely a multitasker in the kitchen. If you eat rice or oatmeal at all regularly I'd recommend it. I would recommend that over a dedicated egg steamer for most set-ups.

this, just pop them in a muffin tin and in the oven while you get ready in the morning, or even the night before
