Also, to the above poster, I didn't see any links to those places where it's "as low as" $330. That's ok, happens to all of us. The other week I sent an email saying "Please see attachment" and whoopsie, totally forgot the attachment!
Now, if you compared the relative value of an entry-level M1 Air to an entry-level M4 Air (which has gone on sale for ~$750-800 over the holiday season, msrp $1000)...I'd argue for the extra ~$400 (double the price), you're getting a machine with a far superior processor, marginally larger screen, and double the ram. Also, it's not going on 6 years old. (But I'm using a 16gb/1tb M1 Air right now, and it's held up splendidly under daily normal use.)
If you have a strict budget or want to get into the apple ecosystem on the cheap, it'd be hard to beat this for a low-risk entry point. It's a delightful, well-made ultrabook that's extremely inexpensive.

If you're just using this for socials, online banking, etc it'll be perfectly fine. Heck, use it for Clawbot or a Plex server (you'll need a usb-to-ethernet adapter probably). My kids have been using this for high school/college for years and so far so good. They can't run Fusion360, but that's what lab PCs are for.

-> Even with 8GB RAM, Apple's optimization makes this feel significantly more responsive and "snappy" than any Windows desktop or laptop I've owned. I haven't hit a bottleneck yet for daily use.
-> The screen is gorgeous. Watching 4K movies is a night-and-day difference compared to my 27-inch desktop monitor. The clarity and color are incredible for a budget-friendly laptop.
-> It's thin, quiet, and "cozy" for media consumption. The Touch ID (fingerprint scanner) is a game-changer for quick logins compared to typing passwords. The Trackpad takes a minute to get used to, but it's so much more intuitive and responsive than standard laptop trackpads.
If you can find these refurbished or on sale for $300–$400, I highly recommend trying one before dropping double that on the latest model. For movies, TV shows, and general productivity, the M1 is still a beast.

And yes I open as many tabs as I like, do minor photo editing, all the normal internet/streaming stuff, document stuff, programming projects etc.
The people that criticize this thing don't realize how it feels to use it, because even to this day it feels amazing, yes even with 8gb of ram.

The build quality is top notch, but you can nab new models for as low as $750. Which I feel is unheard of. Go to Dell. Dip into HP's sauce. $750 doesn't give you squat....you'll have a mushy, flexing keyboard. A 16:9 display @ 1920x1080. A trackpad that feels like you're pushing a telephone pole through mud. And tinny speakers + mic (you'll be 100% beholden to headphones).
