Maybe it's been as low as $330 for those garage sale "refurbished/used/heavily beat up" ebay listings, but if one reads the description, these are brand new (w/ damaged box) --- complete with full manufacturer's warranty and Applecare eligible.

Also, to the above poster, I didn't see any links to those places where it's "as low as" $330. That's ok, happens to all of us. The other week I sent an email saying "Please see attachment" and whoopsie, totally forgot the attachment!

Now, if you compared the relative value of an entry-level M1 Air to an entry-level M4 Air (which has gone on sale for ~$750-800 over the holiday season, msrp $1000)...I'd argue for the extra ~$400 (double the price), you're getting a machine with a far superior processor, marginally larger screen, and double the ram. Also, it's not going on 6 years old. (But I'm using a 16gb/1tb M1 Air right now, and it's held up splendidly under daily normal use.)

If you have a strict budget or want to get into the apple ecosystem on the cheap, it'd be hard to beat this for a low-risk entry point. It's a delightful, well-made ultrabook that's extremely inexpensive.

Looks like these are $346 on Walmart.com. Same seller.

Mine arrived and it's not looking 'Excellent'. It's showing a purchase date of January 10, 2025 so coverage is expired and under battery health it says 'Service Recommended'. It seems like it was turned on at some point - there's a sticker on the box that says it was inspected - and then the battery drained and sat discharged for 13 months or so.

anyone use this air spec for trading tos? want to know if it's fine cause my windows i7 8550U is lagging even with 32gb RAM
Well, that's because it's Windows. And no, I'm not being dismissive or trolling. Windows 10 and 11 are absolute memory hogs. It's why people say "8gb on Macs is like 16gb on Windows", because of the better memory management & OS architecture.

My m1 macbook air 16gb 512gb is still running fast. Battery life is still good too. Great laptop.
Using my M1 while watching TV right now. I know the cool kids are glued to phones and TikTok in front of the TV, but I prefer a screen size that doesn't require a magnifying glass.

well, my question is not which OS is better, but if i buy this laptop, whether it lags when it's used for trading.

as to answer your concern, i think the lagging is more caused by the CPU rather than the DDR5 RAM since i set the memory limit on the tos at 12 GB, almost half of the system RAM, but since my cpu is 8th gen and now it's like 16th gen, like 8 years behind...

Then I suggest you reach out to the vendor of the software that you use, so they can recommend an appropriately specc'ed machine.

I edit 4k footage daily on this pos and it works perfeclty. I always have open Logic, FCP and Capcut and it never slows down... This was over powered then and now is a steal for anyone getting into video editing and the like.

The lagging is actually caused by their OS software. Apple retards the performance of their products to "extend the longevity" of their batteries. That is code for we want you to upgrade your outdated laptop that is not really outdated. They have USB drives or magic sticks at the Apple store. Those sticks reset the internal clocks when you install a new battery. The processors are plenty powerful but the internal software simulates the degradation of old hardware. If users had the key, they could restore M1 performance like it was brand new.

16GB is the sweet spot for Apple laptops. Anything less and performance significantly degrades.

Slightly offtopic I picked up a MacBook Air M1 from Woot last year and wanted to share my experience. Honestly, for the current price point, this thing packs a massive punch.
-> Even with 8GB RAM, Apple's optimization makes this feel significantly more responsive and "snappy" than any Windows desktop or laptop I've owned. I haven't hit a bottleneck yet for daily use.
-> The screen is gorgeous. Watching 4K movies is a night-and-day difference compared to my 27-inch desktop monitor. The clarity and color are incredible for a budget-friendly laptop.
-> It's thin, quiet, and "cozy" for media consumption. The Touch ID (fingerprint scanner) is a game-changer for quick logins compared to typing passwords. The Trackpad takes a minute to get used to, but it's so much more intuitive and responsive than standard laptop trackpads.
If you can find these refurbished or on sale for $300–$400, I highly recommend trying one before dropping double that on the latest model. For movies, TV shows, and general productivity, the M1 is still a beast.
m1 8gb and 226v 16gb are best $350 deals on laptop currently with best casual performance and battery life. a timeless classic

First of all, the person was talking about their WINDOWS laptop lagging.

Secondly, CITATION NEEDED.

If you're editing 4K videos, you're most likely using a NAS or external high-capacity+high-speed SSD. You could easily max out all but the largest internal SSDs if you're doing significantly sized 4K projects. Keep the internal SSD for the OS + applications, not for data storage.

But if you're working on videos for a living, you already know this and use industry-standard practices.
