Maybe it's been as low as $330 for those garage sale "refurbished/used/heavily beat up" ebay listings, but if one reads the description, these are brand new (w/ damaged box) --- complete with full manufacturer's warranty and Applecare eligible.
Also, to the above poster, I didn't see any links to those places where it's "as low as" $330. That's ok, happens to all of us. The other week I sent an email saying "Please see attachment" and whoopsie, totally forgot the attachment!
Now, if you compared the relative value of an entry-level M1 Air to an entry-level M4 Air (which has gone on sale for ~$750-800 over the holiday season, msrp $1000)...I'd argue for the extra ~$400 (double the price), you're getting a machine with a far superior processor, marginally larger screen, and double the ram. Also, it's not going on 6 years old. (But I'm using a 16gb/1tb M1 Air right now, and it's held up splendidly under daily normal use.)
If you have a strict budget or want to get into the apple ecosystem on the cheap, it'd be hard to beat this for a low-risk entry point. It's a delightful, well-made ultrabook that's extremely inexpensive.
Mine arrived and it's not looking 'Excellent'. It's showing a purchase date of January 10, 2025 so coverage is expired and under battery health it says 'Service Recommended'. It seems like it was turned on at some point - there's a sticker on the box that says it was inspected - and then the battery drained and sat discharged for 13 months or so.
Update on my "like new" MacBook (Space Gray, VIPoutlet on Walmart for $302, only slight cosmetic issues around a couple edges, 5 battery cycles, warranty started August 2025):
Battery health is at 100%
Battery manufactured April 2024
MacBook was therefore manufactured after this date, so good news that the MacBook itself is at most about 1.5 years old (rather than 4-5+ years)
anyones keyboard smell a little wieird like bleach
The smell is probably related to VOC's. VOC odors are very common, although I have not encountered a case where the odors hadn't cooked off within a month or two. You might find [Why Do New Electronics Have a Weird Smell?](https://www.howtogeek.com/415656/...ics-smell/) a useful resource.

Box had some dings in the corners. Wished they packaged these in actual boxes vs. mailing envelopes
Laptop is in flawless condition. Clean, no scratches/nicks, looks new out of the box.
Charging cable wrapped with twist tie, charging block and docs included
Battery health is 100% and only has two charging cycles
AppleCare valid through November 19, 2026 with purchase date of November 19, 2025.
I received one very similar. Appears essentially new. There are a couple of scuff marks on the bottom, as the charging cable was not wrapped up perfectly and was probably rubbing on the bottom of the laptop during shipping. Otherwise only two batter cycles and the keyboard, screen, and top of laptop look brand new. I think its a great deal for a laptop for kids to use to do assignments, practice typing, etc. Warranty good through mid November as well.
Hi! Mine arrived today. It has one or two exterior scuffs but other looks new. Unfortunately, like some others here, the battery (with only one cycle count) will not take any sort of charge and says "Service Recommended." I started the Walmart return but then checked apple website which says it only was purchased today and that the "Limited Warranty" is good until Feb 12, 2027. Forgive a rookie question, but how difficult would it be to get apple to fix the battery under warranty? Thanks!

Go into you apple account online and contact support. As this is considered a "new" laptop, it will still have live apple support as and warranty coverage, and you shouldnt have any trouble getting it fixed, if you decide to go that route. They may be able to help you troubleshoot the issue over chat without service, potentially.

Easy. Take it to an Apple Store or authorized repair store, tell them the issue, let them run diagnostics and confirm and they'll usually fix it on the spot. https://getsupport.apple.com/?caller=grl

Came up in an opened box. The cable and adapter were not in original packaging, but the device itself was untouched.
My battery cycle is showing as 1, with 100% batter health. Great deal and a nice gift for my spouse in time for V-day.
Thanks all.
- Box had some wear in the corners but very minor. Only because they packaged box in mailing envelopes, which is strange but ok.
- Laptop is in PERFECT condition. Clean, no scratches/nicks, looks new out of the box. Not even dust on it.
- Charging cable wrapped with twist-tie, charging block and docs included - as others have noted
- Battery health is 100% and only has ONE charge cycles!
- Now for the best part: It has AppleCare+ valid through December 23, 2027! Yes, 2027!
Coverage states:Your device is covered for:
- Accidental Damage Protection
- Hardware Service
- 24/7 Priority Access
