Definitely for more specialized/fine work, but a huge help when you need it and a good price. I'd personally hold out for a deal on a set, though.

the "tiny" works to your advantage many times. i used these to open the back of a stainless steel divers watch to get to the battery. i spread the two noses to fit the grooves on the edges of the diameter of the back cover, locked it in place, and unscrewed the back cover without using the special watch cover opener you're supposed to use. also tightened it back into place after changing battery.

I bought this a few years back on a slickdeal, and I'm amazed at the number of times it's come in handy. When you need it, you really need it. Most of my other Irwin locking pliers were bought in sets, but I have never seen this 4" needle nose come in a set on sale. Well worth the price, and very nice fit and finish.

Good deal, even though the $21 "list price" is a farce. Amazon has carried these for like 15 years and their price has never hit $18, generally been under $15 since 2019. They've been selling for $12.99 since July 2024, with some dips including this one.
