This Fideco M.2 NVMe enclosure is a tool less USB 3.2 Gen 2 case that is easy to use and comes with a solid USB C to USB A cable. It works well for NVMe drives and even for trying different Linux installs, and the firmware update is available from Fideco if needed. The main caveat is compatibility, since M and B keyed SATA drives are reported not to work, and some units were not recognized at all. The coupon also appears to have expired or become unreliable.

  • DIY builders swapping NVMe drives, because it is tool-less and easy to use.

  • People who want a simple USB-C to USB-A enclosure, because the cable feels solid and the design is straightforward.

  • Linux tinkerers testing different operating systems, because it works well for trying out Linux installs.

  • Anyone needing plug-and-play reliability, because it can fail to detect a working SSD and show initialization errors.

  • People with M.2 SATA drives, because it does not work with SATA drives despite the B+M key slot.

  • People who need immediate out-of-box use, because some units require a firmware update before they work.

The listing stated:
【Supported SSD】FIDECO NVMe enclosure can support M.2 NVMe SSD with M & M+B Key. The supported M.2 SSD sizes are 2230/2242/2260/2280. Just one M.2 enclosure can meet your needs of using different sizes of NVMe SSDs. Please not that it cannot support any M.2 SATA SSD.

Key Differences to Identify M.2 SATA vs. NVMe (Non-SATA):
Connector Keys (Notches):
M.2 SATA: Features two notches, commonly known as B+M keys (one small, one large).
M.2 NVMe (Non-SATA): Features one notch, known as the M key.
Performance/Speed:
SATA: Limited by the SATA III interface, offering speeds up to ~600 MB/s (typically 500-550 MB/s).
NVMe: Uses PCIe lanes for significantly higher speeds, often 2,000 to 7,000+ MB/s.
Label/Model Number:
If the label says "SATA" or refers to "SATA 6Gb/s," it is an M.2 SATA drive.
If it mentions "NVMe" or "PCIe," it is not SATA.
Compatibility:
M.2 SATA drives (B+M) are designed for wider compatibility with older systems.
M.2 NVMe drives require a slot that supports the PCIe interface.

VEVEWCCT still seems to work on the black color, but I had to click Apply twice and refresh.

Coupon works on multiple devices both new and including " used like new" if you really want to roll the dice. 8.84 and 6.49 respectively.

"The promotional code you entered is not valid"

Is someone getting a different result? SD seems unwilling to mark expired
