Eufy Smart Lock C33 is best suited for indoor or covered, lower exposure doors where access tracking and NFC convenience matter more than heavy weather protection. The lock is described as not a deadbolt, with both sides using levers, so it fits rooms, dorms, roommates, stockrooms, or other controlled spaces better than a main entry. Battery life and fingerprint reliability are the biggest concerns, especially with sweat, Wi Fi use, and some older models. The IP53 rating is only comfortable for a covered porch, making this a niche fit rather than a front door workhorse.

Common Questions (4)

  • Battery life can be very short on some units, ranging from abysmal to about 3 months, especially with Wi‑Fi use and heavier access. Some setups last much longer, with one deadbolt model reportedly going 5-6 months between charges and another user getting 8-9 weeks on AA batteries with infrequent use.

  • It is better suited to interior doors, bedrooms, dorms, or other controlled-access areas than a primary entrance. The lock is not a deadbolt and uses lever handles on both sides, which makes it a limited fit for typical front doors.

  • Yes. The fingerprint sensor can fail to scan properly when a finger is sweaty, and some users describe the sensor as poor even on the deadbolt version.

  • Its IP53 rating is considered suitable for a covered porch, but not ideal for long-term exposure to heavy direct weather. It is a better fit for sheltered locations than fully exposed outdoor doors.

This is probably good for rooms within house like bedroom or if you share house with others like roommates, etc. Both sides are lever, no house has just lever door for main entry, you probably have a deadbolt + lever/knob.

Tried the older model - with impossible battery life. Customer service gave me a full refund and told me not to ship it back, if that's any indication of how they regard this lock product line.
If this is a wifi integrated model, I can't see how they would have improved battery life given the similar form factor.. This product line is practically a gimmick.

Try the Tapo lock. I switched from Eufy and will never go back. Battery is rechargeable and still at 100% 2 months later and gets used a bunch everyday. I put 3 in. Response time is really good to.
Which model? I get about 3 months out of my Eufys, I do use rechargeables in them so it's not too bad

Personally, I prefer the unlock with palm version of the lock better. This device I would say is best suited for indoor doors or frequently trafficked "secure" areas that require access tracking (such as employees accessing a stockroom). I would not recommend this for a main door, but rather recommend the other Eufy smart locks:

FamiLock E34, Smart Lock S230, Smart Lock C30
In either case, all of them can be opened via the App and granting access to users. Managed access control for the family or small business is where this shines. Otherwise, look into getting an enterprise grade solution from Ubiquiti.

Mine is C220, I only access front door once or twice per week. I use 8x good AA battery not rechargeable. The battery can last about 8-9 weeks then it show low battery. My garage has a very old lock, with finger print (old reflective sensor) & no wifi, I access 4-6 times a day, 4x battery last half year. The wifi use too much power.

Just switched to Schlage Encode in our rentals. The quality difference is wild.

If you have an iPhone & Android household, and your phones support UWB technology, you should check out the new Aqara U400. You'll be able to walk up to the door, and it'll automatically unlock. I plan on putting my U100 on the back door once I grab one of these. Gonna wait for a sale, of course.
Yeah the U400 looks pretty sweet. At $279, it would have to be a pretty slick deal to get one though considering I can get other home key enabled locks that are only marginally less convenient for just over $100. UWB will hit the market from other competitors too soon so hopefully that will drive pricing down!

My basement door doesn't have a porch or shade on top of the door. Would it work in direct rain and snow?
