This onn 10.1 inch tablet is best understood as a budget media and dashboard device, especially for YouTube, streaming, comic books, and simple wall mounted displays. It feels solid, can arrive in new condition, has no lock screen ads, and includes a microSD slot plus Android 14 or 15 on some units. Battery life looks decent for standby, and the screen is usable for basic video viewing, though it is only 720p and fairly dim at mid brightness. The main tradeoff is performance, since 3GB of RAM and the slower processor can feel limiting for multitasking, games, or heavier dashboards. A practical pick if expectations stay modest.

Common Questions (5)

  • For basic tasks like browsing, notes, comic books, and light streaming, 3GB RAM can be enough. It is not a good choice for heavy multitasking or demanding apps, and several comments recommend 6GB or more for a smoother experience.

  • It can work for a Home Assistant dashboard or a simple security display, but 3GB RAM and the slower CPU make it a poor fit for heavier dashboards. It is better suited to showing video feeds or a lighter wall-mounted monitor than a busy, multitasking dashboard.

  • Yes, it should handle YouTube, Netflix, and similar streaming apps, though app launches can be slow. It is also fine for simple web use, YouTube Music, and other non-game apps.

  • It reportedly can be rooted if you want. USB-C to HDMI output was asked about, but no confirmed working report was provided in the comments.

  • No lock screen ads were reported. That makes it a cleaner option than some budget tablets that show promotional ads.

3gb is fine for everyday stuff as well as YouTube and reading comic books
And that is why Google has stated all new devices MUST have 6GB of RAM.

It is NOT FINE... 3GB IS NOT FINE!!!!????

How does this compare to some of the Fire 10 tablet deals? Is the display really just 1280x800, not 1080? (recalling when SVGA was an premium things we have come a long way)
This deals is TOO SLOW!!!

And you say Fire 10 deals... which year are you talking about?

The display is not the issue... don't think you will notice too much since the screen is so small. And it has to push less pixels... being so slow, this is a good thing.

I really don' t want to spec them. Regardless of which one is faster... there are some major issues.

FireHD10... may be running 32bit Android 9 while the Onn I believe is running Android 14 64gbit.

But as I said, they are both too slow. Spend a few bucks more and get something USABLE... and get yourself a drop proof case and a glass screen saver.

3GB is fine since its a 2024 model, its an older device that works fine for everyday needs.

speed is relative to specs such as screen brightness, battery size, cpu, ram, resolution etc
just because its 3gb doesn't automatically makes it slow.. stop being dense.

Speed is relative... I agree with that but this is not fine for every day needs... every day needs needs more horsepower.

3GB automatically makes it hard to do many tasks especially multi task. But this does not just have 3GB or RAM it has 32GB hard drive which to me is not enough space.

This tablet is a headache for the regular Joe... BUT a techie would be fine with this tablet... but tell me, what kind of techie would buy this tablet and the answer is no techie cause it is just to SLOW.

I see NO VALUE with this product... it is just so slow that there is no point in purchasing. But, I will add, unless you are a techie and know exactly what you are buying in terms of speed, RAM and hard drive space... do not buy this.

got the tablet and for the price, i'm actually surprised with the quality. it installs apps at a decent pace and shows 2.2/3gb ram used. there is a microsd card slot for additional storage if needed. i haven't dived into debloating it yet and it could potentially free up more ram but i don't really see the need. i was going to use it as a stationary ring doorbell dashboard but i was so impressed with it that i bought a case for it so i can use it as a throwaway tablet when traveling.

screen is fairly dim at 50% brightness but gets better when at or near max brightness. i charged it up to 100% then was playing youtube and plex for about 30min last night and left at 99% charge and came back to 99% after nearly 24 hours so it should have good standby battery life. its a good general tablet for media consumption which is what most tablets are used for and the only thing i regret is not getting another one.

i actually do have a 3gb tablet and it works fine... for everyday stuff like browsing internet, taking notes, comic books, and light gaming.

the differentianter is actually the cpu. you'll want > 4 cores which this one has

it don't see a difference in term of speed between my 3gb tablet vs 8gb tablet as long as the resolution stays around 1080p

Mine arrived yesterday. Good device for simple web/streaming tasks just as long as you set expectations. Feels solid! Mine came with Android 15 out of the box

I received 1. It wasn't Open Box as listed - it was obviously used but for $30, it was still a decent buy for a kids video tablet. My 2nd Walmart order was canceled, as well as with my 11" tablet eBay order.
