Depends on what your intended use is.
I have one in my car to track it if it is stolen. "Speaker" has been removed as not to alert the thief. Now, with version 2 if the thief has an iPhone it will notify him of the tracking. The thief can quickly search the vehicle, locate it,, and throw it away
I will be happy to be staying with version 1.
That's also why stalkers prefer gen 1. 😂

I don't think so. Gen.2 is advertised as having that as a new feature.

Actually the best thing is to search for an instructional video. Easily found on the net.

Depends what you need it for and how much accuracy you are looking for.
A couple of years ago, or so, I had an iPhone 7 paired with my AirTags (improved accuracy with AirTag V1 started with iPhone 11). When I arrived in Europe and my checked luggage did not show up I could tell the airline that it was at EWR. That was enough for them.

O.K., so there are some stalkers. Are they a good enough reason to lose the ability of locating your stolen vehicle, suitcase, etc, ?
