This upgrade edition centers on Dolby Vision and Atmos, with the digital copies also showing Atmos and Vision on iTunes and Vudu or Fandango. The disc is framed as the stronger technical version, especially for picture and audio, while the digital copy is still seen as convenient. The main caveat is that digital ownership can be pulled later, and the benefit over streaming depends heavily on the display and sound setup. The set is a solid way to get the upgraded presentation in physical form.

  • iTunes reportedly upgrades eligible digital copies to Dolby Atmos for free.

  • Vudu and Fandango reportedly show Atmos and Dolby Vision for these titles.

  • Dolby Vision reportedly appears on all discs in the related Jurassic 7 collection, motivating an upgrade even with existing 4K ownership.

  • A disc-based setup can deliver more noticeable audio quality when the home theater system and room are properly set up.

  • Streaming can reportedly involve more compression, and height channels may be more compressed than other channels.

  • Digital ownership can reportedly be pulled at any time, which differs from physical media ownership.

  • Audio impressions can include devastating bass but squashed dynamics and muddied, less articulate bass.

  • Amazon pricing and MSRP display can be unclear for the first film, so expectations may need to be set to the normal Amazon price.

Picked up the large 4k box set a while ago. Don't see myself upgrading but I am curious about the dts:x set vs this, that said I think I'll save some coin and check out my digital on apple tv. Thanks for pointing that out.

lol you bought this for your 1080p PJ!?You "read" about Atmos!? Oh geez!
Yes, it uses pixel shifting and 120". It was epsons top of the line 5050ub (you, know doe ultra black), and let this tickle you, it's calibrated! I have the fw update and it flashes 3 times. 3 times lob! You mad? It's magnificent. My Atmos placement is perfect at 55 degrees! I don't read Atmos, I experience it! Knob alob Bob Robby nob

Actually, Audioholics was interviewing someone from Dolby and they said in the streaming lossy mix the height channels have more compression than rest of channels.

LOL classic!

Remind us how that PJ is better than an "LG Oled" display!?

Once you've actually seen this Dolby Vision best version on that PJ, let us know what were the positives!!!

How does that one Atmos height placement take advantage of your $12k+ blu ray disc collection!?

Oh FYI a height placement is actually more for DTS:X rather than Atmos, let that tickle you!!! Wink

LOL another classic.
Especially considering my prior response regarding height channels!!!

You do understand there is no standard on the transfer of all this right?

You do realize the "compression" of height channels is the least of issue right?

Hint: thee biggest is the low frequency range!!!
Let that tickle you also!!!

They are top front and top rear placement at 55 degrees from my head in front and back, 500sa mounted directly to ceiling and aimed directly at MLP.

Yes I know the bass is devastating and the dynamics are squashed. Not only that, the bass is less articulate and muddied.

Again how do those placements help with your $12k+ blu ray disc collection?

You forgot about the question regarding how that PJ will be a benefit from DV?

I don't care about DV. I'm getting lossless from my $12k movie collection. HDR 10 for me is fine. Some movies are 10knits, TVs don't even do that, so it's left to the tone mapping of my panny 820 and HDR adjustments in my Epson. If I wanted I could get and HD Fury and run LLDV low level Dolby vision. You must reveal your bluray.com handle to the SD community.

lol, you do understand the positive of this new version is DV right!?

Didn't ask about lossless, asked how they took advantage of those so called Atmos "height" placements!

You do understand the only real advantage to the 820 over the 420 is DV right!!!?

LOL "low level DV" WTF!!!!
How is this better than a LG Oled that offers "high level" DV!!! ?

I don't know why it showed up for me as $24.99, but the original Jurassic Park is now showing as $14.99 again. Bought myself one đŸ’Ș
