This compact thermal shipping label printer is best for quick, low-cost label printing for returns, eBay, UPS, and USPS. Setup can be fast, with USB, CUPS, Windows, and iPhone printing working, and it can feed single labels, rolls, or fanfold stock. It also avoids ink and monthly fees, and the included labels help keep the cost low. The main caveats are occasional print-quality and barcode-scanning issues, plus some uncertainty about bundled software and stock availability. A practical little label printer if you want to skip taping labels to boxes.

I grabbed a NIB Zebra GK420d on eBay for $100. Such a huge upgrade over printing labels on paper and taping them to boxes. I am not even a high volume eBay seller and it was worth it to me.
although i can't justify paying that much for occasional use, thats what i've been doing...print on 8x10, cut, place on the box and tape it 3 pieces which is a hassle...in fact carriers do not recommend covering the bar code with tape as that reflects the scanners and makes it prone to scan errors.

riiiight......or maybe qe just spend 7$ more for a wifi model....
that would be a good deal if it exists. that said, i would still get this one as having built in wifi would be reduntant since i can connect it to existing infrastructure and end up with the same thing. also i don't want some random chinese manufacturer access to my home network.

You can tape right over it. I do that all the time.

Even easier, buy 200 printable labels for $10 and you're all set: https://www.amazon.com/MFLABEL-Ad...B016CV811U

Thanks ops, this should make UPS returns a breeze.
Still need the scan for proof. Unless you are a bulk shipper, you will want that scan proof

Oh, and while we're on the topic of shipping labels...

I pity the fools who stand in line at the post office to ship a package.

Buy shipping labels from pirateship.com. They offer commercial rates for UPS and USPS, so you save 50% or so off the price at the counter. You can price compare, find the best deal considering delivery time, then print the label yourself, slap it on the package, and just drop it off. Save money and avoid waiting in line.

You do need to be able to measure and weigh your package. A postage scale is a worthwhile investment.

But after that, instead of waiting in line for 30 minutes and paying $20 to ship that birthday gift to your nephew, you can pay $10, slap a label on your package, and hand it to your mailman. Every birthday. Forever.

Useful life hack if you're already investing in the ability to print shipping labels.

You can also get free adhesive labels from UPS and maybe usps/fedex in 8.5x11 format. But at this price seems like having a dedicated label printer instead of manually loading labels into my laser is no brainer.
Man, I miss the days of free FedEx labels. Last couple times I tried to order them they said I didn't do enough shipping volume to send them. Are UPS and USPS still sending them out on request?

USPS also offers free package pickup on a scheduled basis. Sometimes I'm shipping an item I don't want to leave in my mailbox (or doesn't fit!) so I schedule a pickup the night before and leave the package on my porch. Super handy!

Does PirateShip.com require monthly subscription, or minimum shipments per month, to qualify for commercial rates? Or can it be use as needed.. ?

I know, you'd think there's some catch. Nope. Commercial rates for everyone. Use as needed. It's great. Shows you both UPS and USPS so you can compare.

I just ordered UPS thermal roll and 8x11 adhesive labels to go with this printer! I do very small volume, mostly returns. Usps still did last I checked but it's been awhile. $19 for the printer and free labels is worth the hassle of changing paper in my laser

$17 seems like a great deal for this device.

But I print a lot of shipping labels. And I just use my wireless inkjet printer to do it. Buy 200 labels for $10 and you're set for a while: https://www.amazon.com/MFLABEL-Ad...B016CV811U

Most people already have an inkjet or laser printer, probably wireless. Is yet another printer (that has to be connected via USB) really going to make your life better?

But again, $17 is a great deal. Not knocking it at all. Just not seeing what it would do for me that I can't already do. And I print a lot of labels.
lose the inkjet and get laser printer with generic toners...save more in the long run. with an 8x10 label if you just need one label you waste double. thermal printers need no consumables except for the media and it comes with 50 labels which is a few bucks so printer is less than the cost of a chipotle bowl.

Can get the costco $17 taylor kitchen scale that's good for 33 lbs and this and free labels from ups. Combined with pirateship you're shipping like a pro for <$40
