No, AI builds their own boards with lots of GPUs. That's why we haven't seen CPU's and mainboards and power supplies spike. Server racks have blades with multiple GPUs and a single CPU, generally speaking, and special cooling and fiber interconnects.

Grabbed it. Next shortage is CPU's and Mainboard when these retailers flush out the cache. AI is soaking up all the production for commercial builds. This is a great deal.

CL32 are pretty decent RAM timings I can get behind. Unsure a/b the MB though since I'm unfamiliar w/ any reviews a/b it.

The problem is that AI will soak up all of the Fab cycles so that way tsmc, Samsung, and Intel will spend all of their cycles on fab more profitable AI CPUs, AI GPUs, and ECC RAM rather than cheaper low profit stuff for consumers. The big boys are already committed to $1.2T of AI silicon backlog that they cannot manufacture never mind cheap consumer stuff gets kicked off a couple of months or even a year. That's why Nvida will stop producing ALL desktop gpus within 2 months time, because even though we think a 5090 going for $4,000+ is hugely profitable, that is nothing compared to the $50k -$100k AI processing Gave and Lovelace boards with tons of memory.

That's true. these companies are going to be prioritizing their already signed contracts with AI data centers. They will still create consumer products, but it'll be with whatever leftover material and labor they have outside of the contracts. Even if things start to go tits up, they are still going to have their contracts for now.
I don't think we'll be seeing something like the soaring prices of the Covid era GPU shortages, however. And I think this overpriced RAM situation is sort of an aberration that's already correcting itself if you're observing second hand markets. People were buying GPUs at 2-3x the MSRP due to cryptocurrency being really hot around that time, people were okay paying inflated prices because they would quite literally get their money's worth out of them. Ram... Is ram. No one is making money off of using Ram. Consumers are seemingly not really into the idea of buying 32GB of Ram for $400-600. Which is why when you go on something like ebay, you can see that people are selling sticks for $100-$200 less than what Newegg is selling them without a combo.
Likely we're just going to see stagnation in the consumer PC builder market and become more and more reliant with trading and selling old parts with one another.

You are basically getting free overpriced memory while paying full price for the CPU+MB combo.

The memory has good specs and at 32GB is enough for a gaming system.

I upgraded my all PC's to 96GB just before price jump in July. I could sell off this 32GB kit
and swap in one of my leftover 64GB kits I have.

I may have to get this to have a backup on hand with the delays being announced on so many things now.

Building my first gaming PC. Plan to pair with RTX 5080.

Is this ram any good? I have been searching for 32gb combo's with CL30 Ram which I am told is the most desirable.

Well, that sucks.I just bought a 9800x3d $450, same MB $330 (and MSI ripped me off on Steam promotion), 6000 CL 30 RAM $355 - or about $250 more for a slightly worse CPU.

You won't notice a difference between the two timings

96GB of ram for $250. Even with llm and other uses I have extra to spare.

Glad you got a laugh out of it. I laugh at people who are crying over today's prices
on 32GB that costs more than 2 of my 96GB kits. Big Grin

Pretty sure the mice are now OOS, so the deal is technically "dead" as the price is the same, but no more mouse.

They were selling this motherboard ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E with that same combo for $900 a few days ago. Do you believe Carbon is as good as the Asus?
