If it's true/certified BT6 then it's basically faster, lower power, better range under most conditions. Seems like they improved the control mechanisms between two devices

Do you mean, plugging the device into the seatback display of the airplane? If yes - then the answer would be NO. "The Bluetooth receiver is developed for Windows systems only and does not support other systems. No driver installation is required under Windows 11/10/8.1" The airlines do not run Windows and have their own OS developed by the various IFE systems providers like Panasonic Avionics Corporation in Lake Forest, CA.

who uses BT for file transfers?

most people just use BT for mouse/keyboard. If it is a laptop, it would have BT built-in. Who cares if it is not 6.0?

Barrot Technology Co., Ltd. is the chipset manufacturer. Don't expect improved results unless you are connecting to devices that specifically support BT 6.0. Checked all of mine, including products purchased in 2025, and so far, only the iPhone 17 supported BT 6.0. From some reviews, the drivers for this device have also produced mixed results.

Build in Bluetooth on my desktop seem to have issues with the psvr2, might try this to see if signal improves the tracking.

No. You'd need a BT audio transmitter dongle for that. It would need a 3.5mm audio connector to plug into the airplane's output.

every airplane i've been on recently has had bluetooth built into the entertainment unit and allowed me to connect my headphones directly to it

Works great for me so far.
Big thing to note is that this is NOT a bluetooth audio transmitter. So it is not for airplane, game console, or any other plug and play audio transmitter need.
This is full bluetooth replacement for PCs. You need to disable your built in mobo bluetooth if you have one. It'll then connect to keyboards, mice, controllers and audio devices as a full bluetooth solution.
