However, youre getting 16GB of fast LPDDR5, 1TB, basically the most efficient CPU for x86 windows/Linux and a GPU that can handle 1080p low-medium gaming without upscaling and do even more with XeSS 3 upscaling.
If you were to price out just the SSD and RAM (soldered, using SODIMM prices) it would already be $300 on their own right now. As for being a refurb, I bought this last month and there is like a 2CM scratch on the side, otherwise its like-new and without issue.
Personally I would recommend this to anyone that can deal with the screen quality in this price segment, if you cant, youll be waiting a few months for a better deal or paying like $200 more solely for a better screen.
I have this laptop, bought it new for $500. I'm not a fan of refurbished electronics but if it's something you don't mind I'd say this is a great price for a budget laptop.
Main reason I bought it is because it's hard to find a laptop in this price range that charges via USB-C. I prefer not to have to lug around a wall wart charger in addition to my usual travel charger and cables.
I saw someone suggest the screen is dim, I would disagree, it seems fine to me once you turn off the Windows display setting that dims the screen automatically based on how much light the camera registers.
100% happy with my purchase at $500. Jump if you like refurbs...
Community Reviews
This refurbished Acer Aspire 14 AI looks strongest as a budget work and school laptop with unusually good CPU, memory, and storage for the price. The Intel Ultra 5 226V, 16GB LPDDR5, and 1TB SSD get praised for fast, efficient performance, smooth multitasking, and even light 1080p gaming or multimedia use. USB C charging, cool and quiet operation, and a light, thin chassis add to the appeal. The main drawback is the display, which is repeatedly described as dim, dull, and only average, with some also noting a spongy keyboard and refurb cosmetic wear. A solid value if the screen is not the priority.
home users who want to multitask with lots of browser tabs because commenters reported it handles around 50 Chrome tabs easily (and even noted YouTube tabs are more demanding but still manageable).
buyers who can tolerate a weaker display in exchange for strong CPU/RAM/storage value because multiple commenters said the screen is the weakest part but the laptop still offers 16GB LPDDR5 and 1TB SSD at a steal price for this segment.
office workers and students who want a budget "workhorse" laptop because commenters said it's a strong deal for office work and school, with expected tradeoffs at this price point.
travelers who hate carrying a wall charger because one commenter bought it mainly because it's hard to find a laptop in this price range that charges via USB-C, and they were happy with the purchase.
people who mainly do multimedia and everyday browsing on a 16GB machine because commenters said the specs are extremely nice for the price and it "absolutely kills it" for multimedia, with the main exception being the screen.
buyers who are very sensitive to refurb condition risk because commenters said refurbs can be a coin toss and that they were nervous about refurbished electronics even if the deal seemed good.
users who expect the laptop to run heavy video workloads smoothly because one commenter said it can't handle ~50 YouTube tabs (and another noted video consumes more RAM than non-video tabs).
people who care about personal-use screen quality (color accuracy/brightness) because commenters reported the touchscreen/display can be dim with poor accuracy and said it's fine for work but not for personal use.
buyers who need a good display for media/pro work because one commenter called out 64% sRGB as poor for media consumption and said ~300 nits can be rough outdoors/strong lighting.
people who want to buy without checking the screen in person because commenters said the in-store demo looked very poor (grainy/dirty sharpness) and advised checking the display yourself if you're doubtful.
buyers who need consistently low RAM usage out of the box because one commenter reported RAM usage hitting ~90% with only a few apps and planned to return it.

other than the screen. absolutely kills it if you care at all about multimedia
I'm using Dell Inc. LATITUDE 7450 for work Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 165U 32GB RAM 640MT/s.
Day to day use Office Apps, Teams, browsing etc I noticed average RAM usage is around 16GB.

Same laptop, only difference is "Very Good - Refurbished" vs "Certified Refurbished". As always, refurbs are a coin toss. Acer likes to play these pricing games, especially when coupons are available.
64% srgb is poor for media consumption and professional work. 1600p would be ideal for this screen size, but 1200p is norm. ~300 nits means rougher outdoors and under strong lighting. Though somewhat offset by matte finish... These are basic facts for any screen.
There are plenty of reviews for this laptop, it's not a brand new model. If you have never used a good screen what I'm saying won't matter. It's like me suggesting specific headphones and you buy a $20 Skullcandy set.
This is fine for people that don't want a good-great viewing experience. Like I said the 226v is the highlight. Good laptop for those focused on strong CPU performance... competitive for price.

IMO if you are doubtful and have a membership, go to Costco - they have this model on sale and you can see the screen for yourself. Other than that, the specs are great, and for the price it's a steal. Though this deal is not very different compared to the 'normal' price for this refurbished, it hovers between 350 and 400.
