However, youre getting 16GB of fast LPDDR5, 1TB, basically the most efficient CPU for x86 windows/Linux and a GPU that can handle 1080p low-medium gaming without upscaling and do even more with XeSS 3 upscaling.
If you were to price out just the SSD and RAM (soldered, using SODIMM prices) it would already be $300 on their own right now. As for being a refurb, I bought this last month and there is like a 2CM scratch on the side, otherwise its like-new and without issue.
Personally I would recommend this to anyone that can deal with the screen quality in this price segment, if you cant, youll be waiting a few months for a better deal or paying like $200 more solely for a better screen.
I have this laptop, bought it new for $500. I'm not a fan of refurbished electronics but if it's something you don't mind I'd say this is a great price for a budget laptop.
Main reason I bought it is because it's hard to find a laptop in this price range that charges via USB-C. I prefer not to have to lug around a wall wart charger in addition to my usual travel charger and cables.
I saw someone suggest the screen is dim, I would disagree, it seems fine to me once you turn off the Windows display setting that dims the screen automatically based on how much light the camera registers.
100% happy with my purchase at $500. Jump if you like refurbs...

This refurbished Acer Aspire 14 AI looks strongest as a budget work and school laptop with unusually good CPU, memory, and storage for the price. The Intel Ultra 5 226V, 16GB LPDDR5, and 1TB SSD get praised for fast, efficient performance, smooth multitasking, and even light 1080p gaming or multimedia use. USB C charging, cool and quiet operation, and a light, thin chassis add to the appeal. The main drawback is the display, which is repeatedly described as dim, dull, and only average, with some also noting a spongy keyboard and refurb cosmetic wear. A solid value if the screen is not the priority.
The laptop can handle around 50 Chrome tabs without issue for everyday multitasking.
The configuration includes 16GB LPDDR5 and 1TB SSD, which can make the package cost-competitive versus buying parts separately.
The integrated GPU and efficient CPU performance can support 1080p low-medium gaming and multimedia workloads.
The system supports USB-C charging, which reduces the need for a separate wall charger.
The touchscreen display can appear dim with poor color accuracy, which can hurt personal media use.
The 64% sRGB color gamut and roughly 300 nits brightness can be limiting for pro work and outdoor viewing.
Coupon savings can fail to match the listed price after tax, which can raise the effective total.
Refurbished condition can include cosmetic issues such as a noticeable side scratch.

Typically I don't need to manage RAM usage because I am used to 32G RAM. I would max out to 32G DDR4 RAM on the old desktop and laptops.
Its closer to 24gb virtual using Edge
Playing video consume the most ram, up to 8gb vram
XDA says
"Of course, there's no such thing as magic in technology, so to achieve memory compression, something has to be sacrificed, and that will usually be the CPU. Compressing data before storing it means your CPU will have to work harder, not only to compress the files, but potentially to decompress them as well when accessing them. You're getting improvements in memory performance, but at the expense of CPU performance
Alternatively, if you can't remember whether it's on or off, you can run the command Get-MMAgent and press Enter, then look for the MemoryCompression line. If it says True, the feature is on, otherwise, it's turned off.
On the flip side, a laptop with only 8GB or even 16GB of RAM stands to lose a lot more without memory compression, considering that capacity will probably be filled somewhat easily, and relying on SSD page files as a backup will hurt your performance even more than the CPU cycles used for compressing data
32gb-64gb gaming laptop don't use ram compression as it hurts gaming performance
